rgl: cylinder3d() with elliptical cross-section
For a paper dealing with generalized ellipsoids, I want to illustrate in
3D an ellipsoid that is unbounded
in one dimension, having the shape of an infinite cylinder along, say,
z, but whose cross-section in (x,y)
is an ellipse, say, given by the 2x2 matrix cov(x,y).
I've looked at rgl:::cylinder3d, but don't see any way to make it
accomplish this. Does anyone have
any ideas?
thx,
-Michael

rgl how to plot a cylinder like arrow3d?
Dear List,
I'm trying to draw vector in XYZ with rgl under use of a cylinder3d.
Therefore I scale and rotate a basis-cylinder).
However, somehow the rotation is wrong as
verified by overplotting arrow3d().
Where is my mistake?

joining two points in rgl
Hi!!
I need to draw a cylinder/tube joining two points. I am trying to make something presentable, I have been able to do it using lines3d. But is it possible to
increase the thickness of the lines? The size parameter does not work. Does any one have any suggestions?
Thanks ../Murli

R package for visualizing/analyzing accelerometry data?
Hello All -
Any recommendations or suggestions for neat ways to visualize data
taken from a 3-axis accelerometer? My study species is aquatic, so I
would be interested in movement in the 3 dimensions in addition to
being able to incorporate the time series as well. Is there a package
in R that might be useful for this?
Thank you in advance,
Jen

Rgl
Dear r users,
I have two kinds of data I'm trying to represent in Rgl.
The first are measurements of soils: heights, diameters, and centerpoints
of each. I would typically represent these in 3d space as cylinders or
cones.
The second are radar data of the area under the solids , xyz plus amplitude
that I would like to represent as a point cloud.
Is there a currently implemented method to
