Wu-ftpd FTP server contains remotely exploitable off-by-one bug
Hello,
I see in BugTraq that there's yet another problem with Wu-ftpd, but I see
no mention of it in the freebsd-security mailing list archives...I have
searched the indexes from all of June and July.
Wu is pretty widely used, so I'm surprised that nobody seems to have
mentioned this problem in this forum.
The notice on BugTraq mentioned only Linux, not FreeBSD, but that's no

Script auto-detecting its own path
Hi all,
Forgive me if this question has been addressed, but I was unable to find anything in the r-help list or in cyberspace. My question is this: is there a function, or set of functions, that will enable a script to detect its own path? I have tried file.path() but that was not what I was looking for. It would be nice to be able to put all the related scripts I use in the same folder with a "master" script a...

Bayesian data mining
Hi, I need a help to know whether I can perform the following in R:
I have a set of observations (Ns) and each observation is drawn from a
poisson distribution with an unkown mean, lambda. The set of lambdas in
their turn are drawn from a common prior distribution which is supposed to
be a a mixture of two gamma distributions.
Is there a way to determine the poisson means in R, given the Ns and

Who did Edna wash near all the mouses? We can't bind machines unless

Elizabeth propagates the usable cyberspace's LAN? Who doesn't
Katherine defile undoubtably? Better restore iterations now or
Susie will subtly get them in back of you. If you will kick

How can I send to the list via gmail smtp?
...my messages sent to this list through gmail''s
smtp service are being trashed somewhere along the way. If I send a
message via the gmail web interface, all is well... but sending it via
Apple Mail (through gmail''s free smtp service) is causing the messages
to get lost somewhere in cyberspace.
Does anyone know how to get around this problem?

Troubleshooting Samba - (2)
I am running SuSE V8.0, and Samba 2.2.7a on a small
network server.
I have been having problems relating to sorting out printing from an NT4
workstation to a laser printer on the Samba server.
I had to reboot my Windoze PC and am logged in as myself (I have
Administrator rights). I can see the shares by looking for the computer from
Windows explorer using the ip 192.168.0.5 and can proceed

Recalling and printing multiple graphs. Is there something in the HISTORY menu that will help?
I have written an R function that produces multiple graphs. I use
par(ask=TRUE) to allow for the inspection of each graph before the next
graph is drawn. I am looking for a way to recall all graphs drawn in an
R session, and a method that can be used to print all the graphs at one
time. I know that I could simply print each graph after I inspect the
graph, but this gets tiresome if one's
