Locating the MACHINE.SID fil
Additional Info... I am beginning to think that a file called 'secrets.tdb' might be what I am looking for. Inside that file is something mentioning SID. Of course, it also mentions the name of the PDC. If that is the file I am supposed to copy over. Then it is done. However, I still need a little more input for setting up a Samba BDC. With a Samba BDC, should I leave the

Gem testing
Hi all, First off sorry for the lengthy email but I typed it as I went along. Logging file access
Hello everyone. I have a Samba-Server and want to know who creates or deletes files in a Samba-Connection. Is it possible to log this information? The log-files I have only contain information about opening and closing files. I would also prefer to log the IP-addresses instead of the Samba-usernames, when files are opened, closed, created or deleted. Is this possible? Thanks for your help,

Can't get password policies (bad lockout attempt) to work on Samaba 3 + OpenLDAP
...d the samba deb file from the samab.org site. I also have OpenLDAP slapd (2.1.30-1.backports) installed. Since the samba.schema that ships with the binary version of samba-doc does not have attributes sambaBadPasswordCount and sambaBadPasswordTime, I had to download http://us2.samba.org/samba/ftp/cvs_current/examples/LDAP/samba.schema When I try and run slapindex -f /etc/ldap/slapd.conf I get the following error message: /etc/ldap/schema/samba.schema: line 344: Duplicate attributeType: "1.3.6.1.4.1.7165.2.1.50" slapindex: bad configuration file! I commented out the offending line (attribut...

Problem with Winbind
Hi everyone, I am having a difficult time with winbindd in order to connect to my shared directories on my HP-UX box. I am running samba 2.2.3a on HP-UX 11, and here is what's happenning: I can start winbindd (I'm using -i -d 3 to monitor it), and using wbinfo -u I can list the domain users.
