...n I enter a single player game (Skirmish or Campaign), whenever the game allows me to control my units, the game will freeze, and become entirely unresponsive, which means I have to hard reset my computer. This does not apply until I actually have control over my units. (For example, little in game cutscenes do not freeze up.) Has anyone had this problem/know how to fix it? Thanks, Bnyan

Well, on a system with a Pentium III 550mhz, 256mbs of RAM, and a NVidia RIVA TNT2 M64 videocard, Starcraft runs into serious problems; bogs down quite a bit at the slightest touch. Oddly enough, the cutscenes run fine, though, and on the Win98 partition on the same system, it runs just about perfectly. Hi there, I'm having some trouble getting vampire bloodlines to run at an acceptable. By acceptable i'm talking even just 15 fps. currently i'm getting about 2-6 fps depending on how active the screen is. cutscenes are also affected. I've tried setting OffscreenRenderMode to fbo, and UseGLSL to disabled, although i'm not 100% positive i've done it right. I just discovered that SS2 has been tested in wine and apparently runs pretty well, so I decided to give it a shot. I intalled it from cd using the guidelines given in the AppDB, ie: i used the -ltngforce method of install, I installed the SS2Tool patch, and disabled cutscenes. Well, I installed GTA San Andreas with Wine(Version 1.3.10) under Ubuntu 10.10 yesterday. To get it run, I checked "Emulate Virtual Desktop" and "Allow Window Manager to manage the Windows" (or something like that) in under "Configure Wine". It worked well, even the cutscenes, the dialogs and the radio worked. For some reason it even runs faster under WINE than under Windows XP. ...this. Today I read something about running games in a seperate x-server. This could have benefits for some games so I was told. I already managed to get the seperate x-server to start, and for wine to run a executable in there. Now here comes my problem, which is that playback of game video's (cutscenes etc.) is very slow in this seperate x-server. I went back into the normal x-server and ran the game, in which video playback was at normal speed. Does anyone have an explanation for this, and maybe some workaround if I'm doing anything wrong?
