IP issues with my samba server
One of my samba Domain controlers is trying to reach two IP addresses of 192.168.221.1 and 192.168.91.1. The samba server is not even on a 192.168 subnet. It is currnetly on a 172.16.12.x subnet. I have never seen a problem like this before. Please someone point me in the right direction. I discovered this problem by looking at my firewall logs, then I looked in the /var/log/samba/nmbd.log and can see when it tried to access these two ip's I just don't k...

NFS and Samba
This is a question before i go into production with my setup. Thanks everyone for the assistance i received while setting up Samba. I am going to have an AS/400 mount an NFS directory on my linux server and it is going to be constantly writing to this share. Also about 400 users are going to be connected to this same share through samba, accessing via windows NT. Has anyone heard of any issues

(OT) rfc1948 question
...ace where synack iss is generated? If yes, then why net.inet.tcp.syncookies sysctl is turned on by default? Is arc4random not enough random? Was there another reason to `request exact RFC 1948 compliance' by default? I am not just curious about that issue (although I _am_ curious :) ), but I am currnetly trying to understand the risks of trusted_hosts kind of security from rfc1948 point of view. I am not some cryptoanalyst, well to be honest I am totally new in cryptography, but from what I have read arc4 (or RC4 - they supposed to be identical) looks quite good as SPRNG given ARC4_MAXRUNS and AR...

compiling vs interpreting
So I thought I'd write this down, in case anyone has useful input to it or wants to read up on the decisions later. Currnetly swfdec compiles actions from a flash file into JSScript objects and executes them using the standard Spidermonkey API. While this allows all the niceties that are available with SpiderMonkey (most important: a whole debugging framework with stack inspection etc - see player/swfdebug to get an ide...

Cyber Power 1000AVR LCD issue
I'm currnetly using NUT 2.4.3 to monitor a Cyber Power 1000AVRLCD UPS. I found the following in the mailing list archive: http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/nut-upsdev/2010-March/004673.html and I want to inform the list that I had to apply the same patch to libhid.c in order to monitor that UPS. -...

DRI problem in wine
Hello, I have a problem with wine video. Previously, I had no DRI present in my system, because the distro maintainers of the distro I use (paldo (http://www.paldo.org)) dropped support for nvidia's legacy drivers (and my card is Geforce MX400 64MB). However, currnet update in the standard nvidia-glx package seems to fix the problem and my system has DRI back again, with a little trick however: the vendor seems to be SGI (i have no idea why their driver is used and how it coped with NV card). But, anyway, wine wasn't effected by this update: its apps still...

Don't understand why "process_node_status_request: "
One of my samba Domain controlers is trying to reach two IP addresses of 192.168.221.1 and 192.168.91.1. The samba server is not even on a 192.168 subnet. It is currnetly on a 172.16.12.x subnet. How can I trace this down? Why would the server look to access a 192.168 subnet? Can someone just point me in the right direction? Thanks for any info Here is a snipit from the nmbd log. If you need more just ask. Dom nmbd.log.3...................... process_no...

Rails & IIS
...tup IIS to act as a proxy to a Mongrel-Rails setup. This works for SSO, but I can''t access the AUTH_USER so it is not an acceptable solution. Has anyone done this themselves, and can they post a how to on the Rails wiki? The current one references Rails 0.13, and ActionPack 1.7.0. I am currnetly running versions are 1.1.6 and 1.12.5, respectively. Likewise, when I get this working I will update the wiki myself. :) Peter -- (********************************************************** * Peter H. Status of Rails.application.routes.recognize_path()
Sorry if this question isn''t really "Ruby on Rails: Core" material. I feel it is, at least kind-of (also, I first tried asking in "Ruby on Rails: Talk" to no avail.). So, while writing a gem (engine) for rails, I found that I needed to have my app (in a pre-filter) directly query the router. In the "old" days, this was done using
