random generators - curiosity
Hi again, This is just out of pure curiosity: I came across the documentation of the various random generators in R and saw that the entropy-based kernel random generator available on Linux, Solaris and some other OSes is not by default available. (This generators random values based on the entropy associated with all IO that is handled by the kernel -- this includes TCP/IP packets.) There

curiosity only: gpu ?
dear R experts. about once a year, I wonder where GPU computing is. this is of course a quickly moving field, so I am hoping to elicit some advice from those that have followed the developments more actively. fortunately, unlike my many other cries for help, this post is not critical. it is more curiosity. Integration: for me, I want to substitute the basic statistical functions with GPU

[Curiosity] 'netbios aliases' works in AD mode?
Hai Marco, I dont get what your goal is, sorry.. :-/ If you follow this template. The computername should always have an A + PTR recored. Now create an CNAME and point to the computer name, and this one can be in any zone. Does not have to be the primary dns zone, as long as the zones are withing the kerberos domain. On a member you have, by default : dns proxy = yes , man smb.conf for

[Curiosity] 'netbios aliases' works in AD mode?
As stated in subject. I suppose in 'DC mode' no, but as DM i can define an alias for the machine? Looking at: https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1703 seems 'yes' to me... Thanks. -- dott. [Curiosity] 'netbios aliases' works in AD mode?
Mandi! Andrew Bartlett via samba In chel di` si favelave... > No, it will ask for 'file'. If the servicePrincipalName is not unique, > the lookup will fail. OK. Thanks. Sorry again, but really i don't find examples for SPN definition. The commandline: samba-tool spn add host/vdmsv1.ad.fvg.lnf.it file.ad.fvg.lnf.it is corect to define alias 'FILE' for domain

SSH2 and IPV6 curiosity
I understand that SSH2 does not currently specify the use of ipsec. Will SSH2 be doing any development with the ESP header in the IPV6 protocol? If and when an IPV6 enabled telnet release comes out what will be the security benefits of SSH2? Wouldn't X application tunneling fly if SSH2 could be written to utilize the lower levels of the protocol? Does anyone know when and how these issues

Call Waiting curiosity...
Hi, I have (to me) an interesting problem. There are 3 physical extensions, 11, 12 and 13. All hang off Sipura adapters. There is also extension 10 which simply uses 'Dial(SIP/11&SIP/12&SIP/13)' to call all phones in the house. Incoming calls from outside get sent to 10 in order that they can be answered from any phone.. Now - if (say) 11 is on a call externally, and 12 calls

smbmount curiosity - cant mount share in rc.local
Hello, I would like to mount a certain share when the server is booted. So I added the following line at the end of rc.local: /bin/mount -t smbfs -o guest //backup/archiwizacja$ /mnt/archiwizacja Interestingly, this doesn't mount anything, nothing is added to the logs either. When I enter this line manually, after server is booted, it is mounted. # mount -t smbfs -o guest

Curiosity Question
Hi All, During updates I see a number preceding the package to be updated as indicated in the below example: 1:perl-Module-Build-0.3500-119.el6_1.1.x86_64 ^ Does anyone know what does this indicates? Thank you, Phil -- Carpe Aptenodytes! (Seize the Penguins!)

Curiosity in my production.log: */*
In my production.log, I usually see lines like this: Processing by HomeController#index as HTML But sometimes I see the line like this: Processing by HomeController#index as */* At first I thought perhaps those calls were made by a bot, but after looking at it closer it looks as those they are generated by normal users. I have no idea, first, how that line could have been generated, and
