Performance leak with concurrent requests on static files (Rails)
Hi, I just found something weird for mongrel with static files. Performance endlessly decreases if mongrel serve static files from simultaneous requests : Here is the test setup: Ruby on Rails Mongrel (tested with 1.3.12.4 and 1.3.13-pre installed today) Ubuntu dapper, compiled ruby 1.8.4. http client : while true; do ab -n 1000 -c 30 http://localhost:3000/ 2>/dev/null | grep

curios problem: No Sound in Warcraft 3, but in autoplay.exe
Hi, after Warcraft 3 is now working without jerking on my Laptop* (need to add "-opengl" as argument), I want to solve a curios sound problem. When I insert my Warcraft 3 CD and click on autoplay.exe, there is the typical Warcraft 3 intro-sound for the installer, but in the game itself, there isn't any kind of sound. Also when I open winecfg and press the sound-test button, the sound is working. Thanks for every hint!...

Just Curios
In masq can I Eth2 eth0:!192.168.1.3/32 Eth3 192.168.1.3/32 Then somehow with routing Route add default 202.x.x.x. (my eth2 address) Route add default 203.x.x.x (my eth3 address) src 192.168.1.3 Any clues? Also .. can How do I achieve this: In rules REDIRECT 80!eth0:192.168.1.3/32 8080 - !192.168.1.0/24 (in human readable format) Redirect everything on port 80 to port 8080

Curios case of UID
Hi, Not sure if this has been asked before. When we create new users in our AD box, they get the UIDs in high 30000 range. Is this normal? If yes, can we change the starting range? We migrated using ClassicUpgrade, now running Ubuntu 18.04 VM The smb.conf looks like workgroup = ADDOM realm = ADDOM.COM netbios name = WNAD01 server role = active directory domain

curios printer behavior from Samba 3.0 upgrade
Greetings: I just upgraded a RH-9 server, running Samba 2.28 to RHEL-3 which installed samba-3.0.2-6.3E. The "old" RH-9 box (print/file server) had 2 printers attached to it (1 parallel and 1 usb). All the printers and fileshares worked great. So I upgraded and the fileshares via Samba work perfectly (as expected) and the RHEL box accepts and print jobs sent to them correctly

Backups solution from WinDoze to linux
...C, Les thinks highly > of backuppc; comments on that, or other packaged solutions? > > > We use Bareos extensively. By default, Bareos is Bacula-compatible. We use > Bareos extensively. What is the story between bareos and bacula? And why you prefer bareos as opposed to bacula. Just curios: I use bacula (it is bacula 5, server is FreeBSD, clients are CentOS 5,6,7, FreeBSD 9,10, Windows 7). Thanks for your insights! DllImport: How to specify the library to link to?
Hi, I am absolutely new to LLVM. Currently reading through documentation and the C-API (which i want to use). As i am working on Windows, i was curios on how to specify an import which links to a function exported by a dll. The DLLStorageClass seems to be the wy to go, this seems clear. But after declaring a function for import, how do i specify the DLL the function is included in?

which DNS backend ?
Hi Rowland, Would you care to elaborate on that last sentence? I've not seen that mentioned before and I'm very curios about your reasons for saying it, especially as we're using internal DNS for our two DCs. regards, John On 29/02/16 06:18, Rowland penny wrote: > On 28/02/16 18:30, Felipe_G0NZÁLEZ_SANTIAG0 wrote: >> Hello list, I need to know which DNS backend is using my domain >> controll...

Speex memory usage?

Is there any thing in the the 8kB of RAM that is always the same (lookup table etc.) or did you already think of that? I'm curios since the ATmega168 got 16kB of Flash that is as fast as the RAM (I think the chip is made so it limits its maximum speed to the slowest memory, flash. it also has some EEPROM besides the SRAM). //P?r Ps. ATmega spec: FLASH: 16kB EEPROM: 512B SRAM: 1kB SPEED: 0-20MHz Architecture: 8-bit RISC,...

is Intel VT-d "really" necessary?
Hi all, I'm just curios and would like some input from the community on this one. We're busy budgeting for a couple of new servers and I thought it would be good to try out the Core i7 CPU's, but see the majority of them don't offer VT-d, but just VT-x. Looking at the LGA1366 range, only the "Intel lga136...

[LLVMdev] Passes for object memory footprint / data-direction
...ks for non-linear objects, e.g. linked lists or instances of std::map. Dynamic allocation is also supported, with some limitations. Our original aim was to use these passes for a scheduler developed in the project we are currently involved (ENHANCE, http://www.enhance-project.de). However, I'm curios to hear whether these passes could also be useful for other LLVM developers / users. Best regards, Sebastian

canonicalize_connect_path failed for service
...on, we are able to access any shares which are not locked down to users i.e shares which are accessible to groups. For the particular share in question, we get canonicalize_connect_path failed for service user01, path /home/CDR/user01/samba There is no /home/CDR . Where is this coming from? The curios thing getent passwd gives the following user01:*:3029:3000:user01:/home/CDR/user01:/bin/false The user is not in the local /etc/passwd The cdr-fs01 has been joined to the AD domain, and we have the following in /etc/nsswitch.conf shadow: files passwd: winbind files group:...

IPV4 is nearly depleted, are you ready for IPV6?
Seeing as IPV4 is near it's end of life (http://www.internetnews.com/infra/article.php/3915471/IPv4+Nearing+Final+Days.htm), I'm curios as who know whether everyone is ready for the changeover to IPV6? Is anyone using it in production already, and what are your experiences with it? -- Kind Regards Rudi Ahlers SoftDux Website: http://www.SoftDux.com Technical Blog: http://Blog.SoftDux.com Office: 087 805 9573 Cell: 082 554 7532

Unix Password Sync -- Are Passwords Encryped?
Hello, For Unix Password Sync, I am curios how Samba can provide the passwd program with an unencrypted password. If a Windows user presses Control+Alt+Delete and changes their password, are the passwords sent over the network in plain text? Does Samba decrypt the password, then provide it to the passwd program? Thanks, Charles

[PATCH] x86: change IO-APIC ack method default for single IO-APIC systems
Ever since 3.0.2 we''ve been carrying this patch in our products. Since there was no indication that there would be anything wrong with the ''new'' IO-APIC ack method added back then, we finally decided to drop this patch recently from SLE11, to find that the subsequent release candidate failed to work on at least on system without using "ioapic_ack=old". [LLVMdev] Missed optimization opportunity
...ugt i32 %add, %mul %a.addr.0 = select i1 %cmp, i32 11, i32 15 ret i32 %a.addr.0 } I find it strange that it hasn't found that %add and %mul have the same value, %cmp would be then false, selecting and returning 15. If 'a' is replaced by a constant it works. I'm also curios which pass detects that c[10] and c[11] are 'a' in 'b = c[10] + c[11]' (it isn't instcombine, at -O1 getelementptr/load are still there). -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... OT: Require e-mail during sign up process?
...ation, I''d imagine that the majority of this demographic have at least one e-mail address they check on occasion. However, I don''t have any hard stats on Internet users who don''t have e-mail, but I''d imagine it to be very low, but this is only a guess. Now, I am curios on people''s thoughts on requiring or not requiring an e-mail address during the sign up process for a web application given the above demographic. I can see the pros for requiring one much more than the pros for not requiring one at all. I just see there being a nightmare if somebody forge...
