[PATCH]: Add support for Intel CPUID Feature mask in Xen
Hi, all
Some Latest Intel CPU models (CPUID.1.EAX >= 0x00010674) support cupid
mask features. Cpuid feature mask is used to limit the feature flags
reported by CPUID.1.EDX:ECX.
This small patch adds CPUID feature mask support in XEN by adding boot
options in Grub entry as below example:
kernel /boot/xen.gz com1=115200,8n1 console=com1 cpuid_mask_ecx =
0xFFFF7FFF cpuid_mask_e...

GPLPV drivers suspected to hinder live migration to different CPU type
...nodes, but fails to and from the E5140. The error message is about a HVM
context not being able to be set.
I strongly suspect the use 238 GPPVL drivers, but I cannot uninstall
them at this point because someone else needs the server.
Could I be right and also, can this be helped? I fiddled with cupid
masking so the CPUs looked the same to the hypervisor, but that did not
help.
thx!
B.

Hiding hypervisor cpuid bit in Qemu
Hello,
I was hoping someone could help me with an issue I'm having with libvirt 1.3.3 and qemu 2.5.1.
I'm trying to prevent qemu from exposing the 'hypervisor' cupid feature to my VMs. When running qemu directly I can use "-cpu ...,-hypervisor"; which works as expected. Using libvirt, I add "<feature policy='disable' name='hypervisor'/>" to the cpu section of the VMs xml. This however, does not prevent exposing the bit....

Documenting the NUT driver-qualification process
...ot;http://www.catb.org/~esr/">Eric S. Raymond</a>
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may
be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons
than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may
sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those
who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they
do so with the approval of their consciences.
