Web forum - should I make one?
Hello, this might be little off-topic, but still... I have not found any official web forum for R users. Did I look good? If not, I'm sorry and shame on me! :-) Such forums are very probably the most common way to share information about all sorts of problems, to ask and get answer. See http://forums.opensuse.org/ as an example. Admins, developers, users, do You think to have such forum

R on Sharp Zaurus 5500?
...hen compiled the oldest R version I could find: 0.49. This actually ran well, although it did not survive a suspend event which made usage tedious. I still couldn't view graphics though. I don't know about the NA issue mentioned here. privsep versus compression
Hi, I'm unable to get Kerberos4 authentication working with openssh-3.4p1. I'm getting a message that privsep is not available on my platform (Irix 6.5.15) and another message stating that compression and privsep are mutually exclusive. But, ssh decided to turn off compression, I think because of servconf.c. I think it would be more usefull to have compression enabled and disable privsep

New version of pmg -- Poor Man's GUI
For those who are interested, I've finished release of 0.4 of pmg and have placed it on my website at http://www.math.csi.cuny.edu/Statistics/R/pmg. The pmg package provides some GUI elements using the RGtk package and friends: RGtk, OOP, RGtkExtra, RGtkHTML, RGdkPixbuf, RGtkViewers and REventLoop from www.omegahat.org and gtkDevice from CRAN. (These require a form of UNIX such as linux, OS X etc.) In particular the key...

Listing Domain controllers, Local and Master Browsers running in your network
Hi, when trying to configure my samba server, I was curious if there's any Domain controller running on our subnet. I could only find notes in documentation of samba, that there has to be only one Domain Controller running, otherwise weird things would happen ... Btw what are those weird things? I couldn't find an option in smbclient or nmblookup to list for example Domain

RFC: xml-like streams in Ogg.
Hello! I've played in the last couple of days with an idea of having (binary) 'xml-like' streams in Ogg. This would make possible having metadata: 1) be independant on the codec, 2) could be introduced at any time, not just in the header (consider e.g. while streaming radio statio you want to send the current's program name / the current song, etc.. with the stream without

ssh-3.5p1 core dumps on Solaris 2.6
Hi, I've reported this problem a month ago on this list, and probably no-one is interested? Binaries were configured with krb4 and afs enabled. However, only the second crash seems to be related to krb4. Any thoughts? I had to add one line to includes.h: #include <sys/types.h> #include <sys/socket.h> #include <sys/ioctl.h> +#include <sys/ioccom.h> #include
