My contribution to the issue of code- reversal
Four years ago, I faced a real dilemma in my business: the Visual Voice PRI
dll had a bug that considered unanswered any call after ringing for 20
seconds. This bug was in fact killing my business, because for international
calling, the setup of the call was already close to 20 seconds on many
cases. Furthermore, the vendor, Artisoft, had cowardly sold the software to

PDE
Dear all,
Does any know how to solve PDE with R? The archive list refers to the
use of ODE if PDE are parabolic. I am not a mathematician and this does
not mean anything for me!
help would be very appreciated.
Many thanks

Problems with graphics
Dear all,
I am a SAS user, who's trying R. I am a little bit lost for graphics.
What is the simplest way for plotting y as a function of x with one
symbol (line or dot) for each level of a class variable z (for SAS
langage= plot x*y=z). Can I add vertical bars for standard deviation
stored in a separate variable (say ystd). Finally, is it possible to
do all this with xyplot function

[off-topic] The better analysis
Hi all,
Firstly excuse-me by this off-topic question.
I'm very confused to decide what is the better analysis to use.
Whem the experiments is a tradicional design of manipulative experiments, it
is easy to decide. But in natural observations is too complicated.
I have 6 farms, each farm cultives some sugarcane's varieties (maybe or not
the same varieties by farm). For each farm I make

3d bar plot
This graph -> http://www.math.hope.edu/~tanis/dallas/images/disth36.gif
is an example I found at
http://www.math.hope.edu/~tanis/dallas/disth1.html
created by Maple.
Does anybody know how to create something similar in R?
I have a feeling it could be possible using scatterplot3d
(perhaps with type=h, the fourth example in help('scatterplot3d')?),
but I cannot figure it out.

coercing created variables into a new data frame using na.omit()
Hi,
I am an R newbie and one thing I am having trouble with binding variables that
I have created within one data frame into a new data frame when using
na.omit(). To illustrate this problem I will give the example I am working on
and the approah I have been using:-
data.frame1<-filepath....
attach(data.frame1)
#create a new variable using a function
new.variable<-rep(1,length(weight3))

[cfe-dev] [Github] RFC: linear history vs merge commits
Oh, I'm completely in favor of making bad commits much less likely. I
simply think there is a decent solution between "let everything in" and
"don't let everything in unless its proven to work everywhere" that gets
90% of the improvement. The complexity of guaranteeing a buildable
branch is high. If someone wants to take that on, great! I just don't
think we

PXELINUX based kickstart query (probably OT)
Hi all
I'm guessing this is a little off topic but here goes...
We use PXELINUX and kickstart to automate our RHEL deployments and
updates. Recently we started using PXELINUX/memdisk and an MS-DOS image
to update the workstation BIOS'es. After selecting <F12> (network boot)
and picking the update BIOS option, the BIOS is flashed, BIOS
configuration made standard and then the
