Outlook client timeouts on sending mail
This may be a sendmail question, but I thought I'd ask here first: I set up an Outlook client to use secure IMAP and secure SMTP. When sending a message, the client typically times out once or twice and presents an error message indicating the server isn't configured for secure delivery. With a little persistence, Outlook eventually makes a successful connection, and the message goes

Permissions issue in OpenBSD
I jumped right in and followed the "Quick Configuration" guide after installing dovecot (dovecot-1.0.beta3.tgz) on my OpenBSD 3.9 box. I had previously been using akpop3d (which worked, but was flaky). I am trying to connect

dovecot-smtp connection?
This may be a dumb question, but I'll ask because... :) I've got dovecot installed and running successfully on OpenBSD 3.9 (this *really* was an easy setup, my hat's off to the developer(s)). And the other employees can now use MS Access to read their mail (they didn't like mutt and pine via SSH - go figger'). So my final challenge is to get things configured so that

Orientation and configuration help
This sounds to me like a "RTFM" question, but I've read the Wiki, and looked through the m.l. archives as far back as July... I still don't have a clear answer, so I'm posting here :/ I'm currently using mutt as my mail client. It runs on the same host that runs the sendmail MTA for my domain. So sendmail "delivers" my mail to /var/mail/<username>,

permissions warning on OpenBSD 3.9
At startup I get the following warning: "Warning: Fixing permissions of /var/dovecot to be world-readable." Q: Is this something that I can/should fix, or can it be safely ignored? Thnx, J
