CentOS 7: shntools + cuetools
Hello there, I've had to set up some tools to convert cue+flac tuples to mp3 files and split albums flacs into songs flacs. Formerly on CentOS 6, I think I had shntools and cuetools from the nux-dextop repo (not sure about shntools). Anyway, here on CentOS 7 I couldn't find any of them in repositories, so I did `rpmbuild --rebuild` from: - cuetools-1.4.0-0.6.svn305.el6.nux.src.rpm - shntool-3.0.10-10.fc21.src.rpm and `yum localinstall`'ed the RPMs, tools run fine...

More than 150 MB / second encoding ?
Hello, Is there some version of FLAC that allows very very fast encoding (i.e. able to process at least 150 MB / second of .wav input data on a standard computer : laptop computer, Core i5/i7, Windows 7 64 bit, 8 GB RAM) ? (It's ok to have a compression ratio which is a little bit lower than traditionnal FLAC) I'm looking for something which is between FLAC (very good ratio, slower than

Two new CVEs against FLAC

(but then it would be good to post its CUETools verification log if the album has multiple pressings with different offsets...)

FLAC: cue sheets
Hi, I have a FLAC file with a CUE file someone has recorded for me. I now was wondering what software I need to split the one big FLAC file in different separate FLAC files using the CUE sheet. I'm looking for Windows software thanks in advance! -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

TOC has certain advantages: 1. You can use it along with the CDRDAO dump to re-create the original CD. 2. It has more information than CUE format. cjs -- Curt Sampson <cjs@cynic.net&g...

GPU-enabled FLAC encoder available
...the current asm optimizations). the third party implementations are good enough I think. --- On Fri, 1/1/10, Sumit Gupta <sumitg at gmail.com> wrote: Is anyone on this mailing list working on enabling FLAC using GPUs? There is CUDA (GPU) accelerated FLAC encoder available now at:http://www.cuetools.net/doku.php/flacuda It has a chart with speedup results and here is a summary:Compared to reference flac 1.2.1 on Core i7 940, it runs approximately 10 times faster on GeForce GTX 285, when using higher compression ratios (modes -7, -8). FlaCuda -8 is faster than flac -0, and provides better com...

Archiving CDs w/ Flac on Linux (and subsequent re-encoding)
This must be possible; not sure how to do it yet. :) After facing the thought of going through my cd collection for a 3rd time for re-encoding, it occurred to me that I should just flac the whole CD and add a cue sheet, and then back up to DVDs. That way -next- time I need to re-encode to any format, I can handle ~1/20th the discs, compared to my whole cd collection. :) Wondering if

Two new CVEs against FLAC
Hi all, Google Security Team member, Michele Spagnuolo, recently found two potential problems in the FLAC code base. They are : CVE-2014-9028 : Heap buffer write overflow CVE-2014-8962 : Heap buffer read overflow For Linux distributions, the specific fixes for these two CVEs are available from Git here:
