syslinux.efi and vendor-class-identifier
...39;ve tried virtually every combination of the set up options for the NICs ... including disabling one of the NICs so the system only sees one NIC i.e. at least one NIC needs to be enabled with PXE and the UEFI Network Stack enabled But nothing improves the situation > Perhaps a PXE boot in CSM mode, using pxelinux.0 + ldlinux.c32 from the > same 6.04-pre1 version would show a different behavior in this same > system. You can set up the system to PXE boot in legacy BIOS mode (which I'm guessing is CSM mode?) - and I _can_ install CentOS 7 via pxelinux.0 etc (we're using t...

PXElinux booting trouble with asus a8n-vm csm + linksys srw2024 combination
Hi, I'm trying to get our 30 node cluster booting from remote server via pxelinux but have problems with the following mobo / switch combination. linksys srw2024 switch + asus a8n-vm csm mobo Maybe somebody saw similar problems elsewere and can recomend any solution. mobo bios is flashed to the newest available one. An extremly simplified test setup which shows our problem: PC1 -> SRW2024 <- PC2 PC1(192.168.1.1) was booted with knoppix, terminal server enabled PC2 was se...

HEAD/TNG Problems.
I've followed the instructions in the DUAL-SAMBA-HOWTO to try to install a Dual Samba system. I'm running Redhat 7.0 (awaiting my 7.3 in the post). I've installed it, added the user `CSMSRV-HEAD$' to both linux and also, using 'samedit' to TNG. This is the name of my HEAD samba server running. I've changed the security = share, and the server works on the network. I can browse shares. I've changed it to =domain and run 'net rpc join -S csmsrv-tng' an...

Boot ISO Using Memdisk on UEFI ONLY System
Hello, I'm sorry to bother, but was hoping that someone might be able to help me with this situation. I have a multiboot that I've maintained now for years, with no issues running on MBR or UEFI-CSM; however, I've now been tasked with using this on newer Dell systems which do not allow any kind of MBR booting whatsoever. I finally have my menu populating, but when any ISO attempts to load, via memdisk, it just says "Ok..." and does nothing. Could someone possibly assist me with g...

Is efiboot.img required?
...tially booting in (U)EFI mode (into rEFInd, or some EFI shell or any other EFI boot loader or EFI boot manager), then generally speaking you are expected to boot in EFI mode. But some (U)EFI firmware _might_ be able to "automagically" boot some external media (e.g. USB flash drive) in CSM mode without having to set it in the firmware. To be clear, "recognizing" the USB device in the boot list is not the same as being able to boot from it. In general terms, you need to set your firmware in CSM mode so to be able to boot in such mode. But that's not the only reason...

Sharing Windows Folders
I'm having problems sharing folders on my Windows PC. Whenever I try to share a folder, I get the option to choose the permissions for Everyone. This much is fine, and normal. I then try to add a user to the list, but I get told the user doesn't exist! My domain is CSMNET and the user 'csm'. I've tried entering 'csm', 'CSMNET\csm', and 'csm@csmnet' (all without quotes). But everytime I get told 'Name not found'. When I run usrmgr.exe from the NT servertools, it says the name does exist! I'm running Samba 2.2.5,...

syslinux efi configuration file name proposal
...tems too. As potential reference, in "gpxe/src/include/gpxe/efi/Uefi/UefiSpec.h" we have: "// EFI File location to boot from on removable media devices" So, my goal is to get the *EFI* architecture (only), IA32 or X64, i.e. excluding systems booting with BIOS firmware or in CSM, and then use a similar patch as yours in "loadconfig.c". Unfortunately, I am not a developer, so I don't know how to code a selection of: "booted in EFI<Arch> mode, not BIOS nor CSM" > - add /boot/isolinux and /isolinux plus isolinux.cfg to the search pat...

configuration tools
...oking around for configuration tools for compiz. I don't really need anything special, but situation seems a bit problematic at the moment: - gset-compiz: Used it in the past, website is dead. - compiztools: Never seen it, but from what I read seems ok, but website defaced and download dead - csm: doesn't work with vanilla compiz So: Is there any tool atm to set the compiz gconf options with some nice dialoges? And if it's only someone sending me the archives of gset-compiz and compiztools. -- Hanno B?ck Blog: http://www.hboeck.de/ GPG: 3DBD3B20 Jabber: jabber@hboeck.de ---...

Is it possible with syslinux efi support (6.0) chainload the memdisk and load a DOS Floppy image?
Hello, I'm investigating ways to boot a DOS floppy image stored on the FAT32 EFI System Partition using Syslinux and Memdisk. The system will be running Win8 using UEFI mode (GPT disks) and secure boot off. Change the Windows efi boot loader is the easy part... With the current syslinux's alpha version (6.0), is it possible to boot the syslinux's efi module from the FAT32 EFI

USB boot problems on Gigabyte GA-M55Plus-S3G
...I could not figure out whether your > mad board claims to be capable of EFI.) The board first appeared mid 2006, it is even AM2 and not AM2+. As far as I remember the first EFI mainboards in the PC market (not Mac, not servers) appeared late 2007, but often were limited to some kind of "CSM only mode" and cannot be switched to EFI boot. Since early 2010 nearly every freshly released mainboard/notebook seems to support EFI (at least without Secure Boot), albeit before Windows 8 they usually were configured to CSM as default. I've seen some totally broken EFI implementatio...

So, here's a (somewhat rhetorical) question: why are "efistub" and "pxelinux.0" together in this conversation? Regards, Ady.

UEFI PXE Difficulties
Im a long time PXE boot fan. I use it for wimbooting windows PE, linux images via http, and memtest mainly. Ive got it nicely customised with my own graphics etc. Then UEFI booting came along. Till now ive been content simply setting bios's to CSM mode and doing my thing.... Ive had another go at EFI PXE booting and can now get the menus and grahics from syslinux working, but I cannot get any of my images to run. They start to load and the system reboots. I think im missing something basic here, do my operating systems need a signature r...
