Dear useRs,
it may be of interest to some of you that Computational Statistics & Data
Analysis (CSDA) is having a special issue on statistical algorithms that
are accompanied by corresponding R packages. For details see the call

Specify custom par(mfrow()) layout for defined plot()
Dear R Users,
I am doing stats::decompose() on 4 different time series. When I issue
csdA <- decompose(tsA)
plot(csdA)
I get a summary plot for observed, trend, seasonal and random components
of decomposed time series tsA. As I understand it, the object returned
by decompose() has it's own plot method where mfrow(4,1) etc. is
defined. Now suppose I wanted to wrap those mfrow(4...

nproc parameter in efpFunctional
Hello all,
could anyone explain the exact meaning of parameter nproc? Why different
values of nproc give so different critical values, i.e.
meanL2BB$computeCritval(0.05,nproc=3)
[1] 0.9984853
meanL2BB$computeCritval(0.05,nproc=1)

strucchange Fstats() example
Dear all,
I'm trying to understand how the strucchange package is working and I have been looking at the examples given for the Fstats() function.
The first example (Nile), shows one peak in the F-stats and one breakpoint is estimated, that can be plotted using the following code
## Nile data with one breakpoint: the annual flows drop in 1898
## because the first Ashwan dam was built

Programme Maxstat
Sirs,
I have recently been interested in your Maxstat. I have computed with my own programme the ranks (by using the Kaplan-Meier method and the log-rank test) with the formula (Observed-Expected)/(SQR Var). The results are similar but not exact to the M value obtained with the Maxstat. I would like to know whether you are using some correction or adjustment in computing the different ranks. Thank

strucchange | breakpoints - pure structural change model?
Dear R-Team,
Am I right supposing that the "breakpoints()" function in the strucchange
package is an implementation of the pure structural change model proposed
by Bai and Perron (1997, 2003)?
My question relates to a partial structural change model that Bai and
Perron formulate in their 2003 paper, e.g. formulated as
y = x' beta + z' delta_j + epsilon,
where beta and delta

Font size in geom_dl (using ggplot2)
Hey everyone,
I am an R-newby... so sorry for bothering you with simple-to-solve
questions;) I have the following issue: trying to add labels to my
scatterplots (with geom_dl in ggplot2). Everything works fine, but after
checking every resource I do not find a way to change the font size of my
labels. I tried size, cex, fontsize at every position... but it always stays
the same.
