Simple audio recording app?
Hi,
I'd like to get my microphone to work (mainly to use it with Skype).
I've just been looking for a simple audio recording app, as I vaguely
remember having seen such a thing before, only I can't seem to find it
anymore. I'm using the default GNOME desktop with the latest CentOS 5.
Any suggestions?

Skype on CentOS 5 - my microphone settings are incorrect
...XP, but I hate to use Windows and
I use Linux, except when I want to use Skype or MS FrontPage.
I believe the problem has to do with a configuration setting. I use the
GNOME Desktop.
In System > Preferences > Sound > Audio Conferencing > Sound Capture
there are five (5) choices: (a) CS46xx (b) ALSA (c) OSS (d) test sound
(e) silence and I get the following results when trying to test them:
(a) test and dies (b) test and dies (c) testing pipeline and I can stop
the test OK. I suspect OSS is the one to select (d) test sound = OK (e)
silence

Boot hangs at Initializing hardware...
...bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=172920
Both Knoppix 4.0.2 and Ubuntu Breezy 5.10 live-CD distros seem to work
OK on the same hardware, as have RH 7.3-FC1/2/3, WBEL3, and CentOS
4/4.1. The problematic system is an IBM A21p notebook with (according
to Knoppix lspci) Cirrus Logic CS 4614/22/24 using module cs46xx.
Doesn't really need sound as it is currently acting as a print-server
for a color Laser, but haven't figured out how to get it to boot under
CentOS to work the problem. Will try mounting the disk from a Live-CD
boot and play with config files next.

Skype vs. CentOS: no outgoing sound
Hi,
I've spent the best part of a sunny afternoon trying to get Skype to
work on my CentOS 5 desktop.
My soundcard seems configured OK.
I can play sounds and hear them OK in my headset:
$ aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/*.wav
I can record speech from my microphone OK:
$ arecord > ~/test.wav
... although I have to say that sound quality seems rather poor. It's
quite fuzzy. Other

Unable to Configure Xen Dom 0 in Jeremy''s PVOPS Kernel
Hi All,
I followed the instructions here at
http://bderzhavets.wordpress.com/2009/06/10/setup-fedora-11-pv-domu-at-xen-3-4-1-dom0-kernel-2-6-30-rc6-tip-on-top-of-fedora-11/
However, when I do a "make menuconfig", I cannot see any XEN related
configuration options. What am I missing?
Thank you.
