iSCSI Question
...le set of arguments for later..). Ultimately, my goal is this. I want to take my existing Ceph cluster, expose a handful of RBDs from it to two iSCSI heads running C6 or RHEL6 or what have you, so I can use my inexpensive storage built on Linux -- for my Windows 2008 machines. Thoughts? Steven Crothers steven.crothers at gmail.com

When will CentOS Publish Errata?
Hello, Currently The CentOS project publishes errata on its CentOS Announce mailing list. In order to import this into a package management system (like Katello on The Foreman), one needs to parse the mailing list and convert it into XML before importing it. This is done to some extent on http://cefs.steve-meier.de/ but some more legwork needs to be done before The Foreman can understand the

CentOS-QA Mailing List
Does anybody know why this list is private and password protected? It would be nice to see progress, but it appears that part of the development is completely locked down and not open source. -- Steven Crothers steven.crothers at gmail.com

CentOS 5.6 PHP 5.3 and SquirrelMail
OK, so I did an upgrade to PHP 5.3 on one of my servers. I noticed the uninstall of php also removed SquirrelMail and it won't install under PHP 5.3. Has anybody worked this out with a good RPM or repo solution? -- John Hinton 877-777-1407 ext 502 http://www.ew3d.com Comprehensive Online Solutions

xferlog not rotating.
I am not sure how to correctly troubleshoot this. I just noticed that my /var/log/xferlog file is huge. There are no files in /etc/logrotate.d/ for xferlog. This is what leads me to believe that it isnot rotating. Or perhaps I do not have it set to rotate. I am not sure. I am running CentOS release 5 (Final). Can someone tell me what I, apparently, do not have configured correctly. Thank

When will CentOS Publish Errata?
...But, that's how it's always been with the CentOS project, the gears are kept private the product is made public. Realistically, it would probably be easier to fork the repositories under a different name, create your own mirrorlist and point back at the mirrors for your RPM sources. Web based file versioning frontend
Hey guys, Need an opinion on what to use for file versioning text conf files that get updated by scheduled rsync's etc. Need something that can watch the file, so it doesn't need an explicit checkin, and can be diffed by a web front end. I haven't any preference on backend either. Thanks for any suggestions, jlc

Help integrating CentOS 6 with existing network login infrastructure
I've updated my kickstart configuration files to work with CentOS 6 and am most of the way there integrating a CentOS 6 system into our LDAP/NIS environment. My authconfig line in the kickstart file is as follows: authconfig --enablemd5 --passalgo=sha512 --enablenis --nisdomain=XXX --nisserver=nis.XXX.com --useshadow --enablekrb5 --krb5realm=XXX.COM --krb5kdc=ldap.XXX.com

local repo
Hi all, When I am installing I use kickstart and have a line like: repo --name=Updates --baseurl=http://192.168.1.14/centos/5.6/updates/x86_64/ and that works great for installing the OS. After that the machine reboots and I have it automatically go into additional installations running scripts. These installations do "yum install XXX". However, its no longer using my above repo

scsi3 persistent reservations in cluster storage fencing
I'm interested in the idea of sharing a bunch of SAS JBOD devices between two CentOS servers in an active-standby HA cluster sort of arrangement, and found something about using scsi3 persistent reservations as a fencing method. I'm not finding a lot of specifics about how this works, or how you configure two initiator systems on a SAS chain. I don't have any suitable

Drive recovery?
I have a CentOS 5.6 system (recently installed) that, for some reason, has decided to mangle one of its drives, specifically /dev/hde1 ... No errors anywhere, just rebooted the machine over the weekend and it's gone. Up till the reboot, the drive was fine, I was writing to it without a problem. fdisk tells me: ---------- # fdisk -l /dev/hde Disk /dev/hde: 160.0 GB, 160041885696

Power-outage
I have a CentOS-5.6 remote server in a house in Italy, where there are occasional thunder-storms. There was one yesterday, when the electricity went off 3 times, for a second or so on each occasion. My server, an HP MicroServer, came back (re-booted) on 2 of the 3 occasions, but not on the third. I assume that the problem arises because the machine does not close down properly. (Although it is
