CrossPlatform problem with GraphicsContext sample
On Windows the app shows:
graphics area
2 check boxes
status bar
On Mac OS X the check boxes are missing.
Nothing obvious caught my eye.

I have visit your website and the solution looks interesting for
big entities. Of course it is comercial, so it's not in my scope.
I'm taregeting smal entities. Some people coming together amd
want to talk an chat.
My most important points in that way are:
- 100% OpenSource
- 100% CrossPlatform
- 100% free from any propertary stuff.
- 100% free from advertising, spyware ot anything else.

iaxComm - IAX client for Win32
iaxclient.sourceforge.net is the home of Steve Kann's crossplatform port of the
iax library.
iaxComm is a client written in c++ using wxWindows. There is a Win32 binary on
the site. I think that it should be compilable on Linux and MacOSX, but can't
test it.
Feedback is welcome.

iaxComm 0.99pre11 binaries posted to Sourceforge
iaxComm is a crossplatform open source softphone utilizing the IAX2 protocol.
It is distributed as part of Steve Kann's iaxclient library.
I've just posted new Windows, Linux and Mac OSX binaries to sourceforge.
The Windows binary was compiled on WinXP.
The Linux binary was compiled on RedHat 9.
The OSX binary was...

Cross Platform Mixers and LibAO
...y blind) doesn't
provide mixer control, and looking at how other poeople have implemented
their mixers tend to use a number of #ifdef'd mixer functions, one for
OSS, one for ALSA, one for Solaris, etc. I'm curious if anyone could suggest the best way to implement a mixer
in a crossplatform manner that would best jive with libao. I've like
the player being simple yet still running on Solaris, Linux, and
FreeBSD without problems, I'd hate to cludge it up if I can avoid it.
At the moment I'm just using an OSS mixer, but am ready to re-write the
mixer code. Is...

streaming theora in flash
...yer), but I have to
convert theora to FLV (you can use the script in the package above).
My question is, does anyone know if it's possible to get theora itself
working? I know firefox3.5 will be able to do it, but I am afraid that
will be the only browser, so I think flash will stay as the only
crossplatform way to handle videos.
I think I will just continue converting things to FLV and hope more
browsers will support theora, maybe through some plugin at least.

interaction.plot
...behaviour is the line
mtext(xlabs, 1, at = xvals)
in interaction.plot.
to get this function to perform conform the manual, change this line to
mtext(xlabs, 1, at = xvals, cex=par("cex"))
and all is well.
because of the simplicity of this ''fix'' I assume that it is a crossplatform
thingie, but for the record:
I use R-Win in winNT, 1.2.0, upgrading soon.
just my .02 euro..
I''ll just end this mail with a standard declaration of love for R

certainly happy if people will check this version out or consider a
contribution, but it is not my idea to play "silly shareware games", the
open source version works well and I am commited to support it as far as I
can.
-- OTHER PLATFORMS (Linux/Mac)
Technically xlsReadWrite could be crossplatform. Flexcel already has a Kylix
version, which means that it could be made to run on Linux almost
immediately. The IMO better way would be to port the code to *FreePascal*:
this fits better in the open source world of R and this also would make it
possible to supply a Mac version. - While I started to...

LGPL IAX2 software phone (for WIndows/Linux platforms)
I don't want to rain on Dan's parade, but I'd like to call everyone's attention
to an existing project.
Steve Kann has developed a crossplatform IAX/IAX2 library, and there are a few
clients available for it.
I have written iaxComm using the wx toolkit. It compiles and runs under Windows
XP using the MinGW tool chain. A precompiled IAX only version is available at
iaxclient.sourceforge.net.
iaxComm _ought_ to recompile and run on linux,...

Mozilla cross patforming code
Please be aware of 2 exploits currently running wild, one of wich is
cross platform and verified as running on BSD, here is a 1.0.2
crossplatforming code PoC i found in a search ->
http://www.milw0rm.com/id.php?id=943
There is 'newer' code and PoC of this (k-otik.com,other publics),
however it is not mentionioned as it is not 100% verified as cross
platforming yet.
I recommend people keep speedy with browser updating, Mozilla is...

player_example vs splayer
...rface used on several free
unix-like operating systems, which immediately excludes win32 and MacOS,
even though it used SDL to display the frames. SDL also has audio
support, and is quite widely ported.
splayer replaces the OSS audio interface with the PortAudio(.com)
library, which aims to be crossplatform, and somewhat uniquely offers
latency reporting which greatly simplifies sync calculations.
Unfortunately portaudio isn't widely installed, is big, and isn't being
maintained very actively. So it's not may favorite dependency, and adds
quite a bit to sdk sizes without making the spl...

[Newbie] - Start with Vorbis
Hi,
I'm new to this ML and I'm sorry for my banal topic...and for my bad
english!
I want to start using Vorbis in my app but the first question I have
made myself is:
"Is possible to recording from an input device with the vorbis libs? Or
the libs is intended for encode/decode only?"
Tnx in advance!
Regards.
Daniele.
