problem solved... sort of.  not sure why 1.0.2 should be any
different except for the different versions of automake/libtool
I used to build the source release.

FLAC/assert.h overwrites /usr/include/assert.h?
Let me pass this on to the dev group.  I haven't seen this
but I never install to /usr.  I would think that it should
still end up in /usr/include/FLAC/assert.h... maybe automake
is handling the file specially because of the name?

Corrupt mbr and disk directory map
We are running Centos 5.6.  All was fine until yesterday.  I attempted 
to tar a 14KB work file to a USB floppy  (/dev/sdb) for transport to 
another server.  Unfortunately, I keyed in 'tar cvf /dev/sda filename' 
instead of 'tar cvf /dev/sdb filename'.   /dev/sda is our main 
(boot/root/apps) scsi hard drive.   I realized my mistake, but it was 
too late.  The system is still

[Bridge] Bridging ppp0 and eth0
I am trying to bridge a ppp connection to an ethernet connection.  The
documentation says this is possible but when issuing the following:
brctl addif myBridge ppp0
a short message is displayed
br_add_interface: Cannot assign requested address
