Multiple class C addresses
...address 198.xxx.xxx.xxx.
Any PC's with that on that IP address can see the server just fine.
However, we also have another class C 207.xxx.xxx.xxx and folks on that
one cannot see the server. We have seen this problem before and NetBeui
solved that one. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

If I map a network drive to \\info\user on a pc I get the error:

So what am I doing wrong or what changed at 2.0.0?

PDC and LDAP
...up the PDC is there a way to basically copy the passwd file from
Unix or do I need to set up each account seperately? Can someone point me
to some doc as to how to do this?
This is sort of Samba related and sort of not. Is there a list that would
be more appropriate?
Thanks for your help.

strange problem
Hello.
I have a problem that I hope you can help me with.
I have 95,98 and NT machines and a Linux box with samba 2.2.5 (or what ever is
shipped with redhat) that shares a printer to the windows machines.
The problem is now:
-the NT machines finds the printer!
-the 98 machine finds something, but rejects all passwords (it runs encryot.
passwd)
-the 95 does not find anything at all. (runs encrypt

Samba Gurus:
I just upgraded from samba-1.9.15p8 to samba-1.9.18p8 on one of our Sun

another machine with smbclient I get the following error message:

No. I rebooted the server and the problem went away.
I'm confused as to how it could be a DNS problem when I can still ping

swat questions
I have 2 questions concerning swat:
1. On my test machine I have swat set up and working. I can only login to
swat as anyone but root. I get:
401 Bad Authorization
username or password incorrect, error.
But I can login as a regular user just fine.
I have other samba servers set up and root can login with no problem, so
something is configured wrong on this machine. Here is my smb.conf file:

syncing unix passwords
I give up. I had this working and now it isn't and I don't know why. I was
able to sync unix password using smbpasswd but now it won't work. When I
run smbpasswd it changes the samba password but acts like it doesn't even
see the parameters in the smb.conf to change the unix password.
Here is a sample changing session:
as400:# ./smbpasswd xxxxxx

UPDATE: syncing unix passwords
I have some new information concerning this issue. I am now able to change
both the samba and unix passwords as anyone but root. If I try as root I
only am able to change the samba password but not the unix password. I can
do this at the unix prompt as well as in swat. So it works but why root
can't change both of them makes no sense to me. root can't even change both

Connection Problems
I am having problems with Samba. Things have been working I think but
they aren't now. We have 2 class C addresses, one doesn't seem to be
having as many problems as the other. When folks on the 207 side try
to connect to Samba shares they can usually but right now are failing
and getting a network busy error.
The file called log. which appears to be a system log file for samba
says:
