R version 2.01.1, Crimson Editor and the "one" from nowhere
Dear List....
sorry to bother you R-gurus with such an "unstatistical" question... but
I face a problem using Crimson Editor with R 2.01.1 that I never had
using R 2.00.1.
I already posted on the Crimson Editor forum but it seems to be VERY few
R-users there....
I successfully used R v2.00.1until now (under Windows XP professionnal,
version 2002, Service Pack 2, P4 processor CPU 1.8 GHz), together with

good editor for R sources ?
Dear all,
(Sorry if the question has already been answered.)
Could someone please suggest a good text editor for
writing R sources ?
(I know emacs exists ... but I find it a bit heavy).
I use crimson (http://www.crimsoneditor.com) which is
small and simple, but the R syntax seems not to be supported.
Thanks for any advice

crimson editor
...found the shortcutkey for sending, by
mistake :-(
OK. I am a windows user and I wanted to instal emacs. However, went to
speak with the information staf on the institut and they told me that that
is a bit problematic sometimes, and that there is a free soft that could do
a very similar job which is crimson...
This is like a note pad, but highlights the syntax and can open R and tell
it to execute stuff... I am really happy with it, and I wanted to share it
with you.
(some day I will still try emacs)
OK, Crimson can be downloaded free in
www.crimsoneditor.com
It is really small (fits a flopy disk)....

functions not found after installing DBI/RDBI packages
Hi,
I would like to be able to use R with a connection to a PostgreSQL database. I am using R 2.0.1 on windows XP. I have tried installing both the DBI and rDBI packages (which is better?) but in either case I run into the same problem - when i try to use either the dbDriver or dbConnect functions i'm told the function couldn't be found. Seems like the packages aren't installing

SPAM-LOW: Re: .Call files do not seem to wo rk
If you are using Windows to generate the .call files, make sure they are in
Unix format (LF only at EOL, not CR+LF) - Notepad makes bad Unix files. Use
Crimson Editor www.crimsoneditor.com to make the file, and click Document >
File Format > Unix Format.
I ran into this same problem, and it turns out my Asterisk install would not
use Windows-formatted text files, it would just ignore them and delete them.

random selection from dataset and creating and graphing multiple means
I was wondering if anyone could help me with a problem. I need to randomly
select, say 500 subjects from the 5000 cases I have and then need to run a
test to create 500 sample means and graph the means in a histogram. Does
anyone know how to do this. I'm not that familiar with R so please be
patient with me.
Thanks a lot!

Automated operations on a database
Hello, i have a question about a problem i can''t figure out how to
solve.
I have a standard RoR application made with the classic MVC model, and I
need to (for example) edit a value in a table with a time-based rule.
EX:
starting table:
user | money

john | 500
after 1 minute:

I am running Samba on a FreeBSD box in a network of Windows95

up a /tmp directory so everybody can read that wants to. I think I have
this done but everytime somebody tries to map to \\SERVER\tmp they get
prompted for a password. I don't want them to get prompted for a password,
can somebody give me an example

Two Machines and Samba
Here's the sitch: I have a RH 6 machine and an NT 4.0 SP3 machine that I
want to use Samba to make the Linux box space available to the NT client.
There is no DNS, and there is no Internet connection. Each of the two
machines has a "dummy IP", specifically 192.168.255.253 (NT) and
