Crossover cable for E1 ?
I'm looking to connect a BMC 450 to an asterisk with a Digium Quad E1 card. Am I right in thinking that I'll need a special 'crossover-E1' RJ45 cable? If so, any clues where I might buy one in the UK? The Digium card sellers don't seem to stock such a thing. Thanks. Tim. Tim Panton - Web/VoIP consultant and implementor www.westhawk.co.uk

X100P Ireland Red Alarm (AR Tarzi)
Ahhh this could be my problem! I just checked which wires on the RJ11 cable had a voltage across them and it was the yellow and green (3 & 4?). From what someone posted the other day it's supposed to be Bumble Bee and Christmas Tree. I did have to get a technician out to fix my line when it was first installed because it was dead. Maybe he wired it up incorrectly or maybe they just do it

learning lattice graphics
Hi, I've just produced my first lattice plot - the graphic is very impressive, but I only partly understand how it works. I crimped from examples in MASS and the help pages to get most of what I want done. Howver, I find both MASS and the help pages are a little too terse for my needs as a beginner. Can anyone suggest web or print resources for lattice graphics that provide a more thorough

annoying static when calling from legacy PBX -> * ZAP interface
Hi all. I've got an Auerswald 4410USB ( http://www.auerswald.de/int/products/c4410usb.htm ) which I connected to my 2nd ZAP interface (s0 <-> Zap) via Crossoverr ISDN cable (which I crimped myself, I guess that's not the source of my trouble). Now what is annoying however, there is a very loud and very distinct static noise that is audible to the external party (outside of my * box

Is this failed Asterisk setup typical?
Hello I just read this article and would like some feedback from experienced Asterisk users: =============== "Failed open source VoIP deployment leads to hosted VoIP strategy" By Jessica Scarpati "When budgets are crimped, open source voice over IP (VoIP) solutions look attractive -- a little extra work for a lower cap-ex. But those savings came at a high price for one Texas

RJ11 x RJ45

Re: Proposed solution for exit code priority jumps
This week has been very productive and has shown a huge leap forward in Asterisk development. The creation of the new concepts of an "unstable" branch of the code will, I believe, make for a better development environment in the long run. With that in mind, I'm going to do something I only infrequently do, which is to re-post something in it's entirety and look for comments

[Off Topic] humour, XMAS, ground loop - good business strategy
...down in dude-ville Liked Christmas a lot... But the Ground Loop, Who lived under Dude-ville, Did NOT! The Ground Loop hated Christmas! And Santa and Miss Claus Now please don't ask why, No one knows the cause. Maybe his connector wasn't screwed on just right. Could be, perhaps, that his crimps were too tight. But I think the most likely cause of it all Might be his cable was one conductor too small. But Whatever the reason, the crimps or the screws, He lurked there on Christmas Eve hating the dudes. cisco poe
I know this is on the wiki, I just want to confirm so I don't blow up my cisco phones. I've got several cisco 7940's all running using cisco power cubes. However, my boss wants me to switch just a few over to poe, but doesn't want to fork out the dough for a nice cisco poe switch, or anybody else's poe switch for that matter. So my question is, what is the '99.999%

Pre-made E1 crossver cables for the UK
Hi, just a note to let people know that I had NetShop make me some E1 crossover cables to replace my own dodgy crimpings, and they work perfectly =) The 3 metre version is ?5.58 and their order code is CS000111/3 (I guess the /3 refers to the length..). They're at www.netshop.co.uk - 01753 691661. Cheers, Gavin.

Using Samba from One Unix box to one Win98 PC
To all the helpful people out there, We currently use samba on our Unix server and have win98 clients from a winNT network that we share files with. I have a user that will soon be working at home using a Unix (SGI Octane2) box and a Win98 PC. He wants to be able to share files between the machines. My question is will I need some kind of hub between the two for them to make Samba work or

Asterisk-Users Digest, Vol 22, Issue 1
Hey, Thanks for the input Andrew. I did all you suggested but noticed that when I did the loopback test, the output *was not* there as you mentioned ("I'm set to pri_net, but the other side thinks it is pri_net!"). In fact, the same message as before kept repeating every second or so: >> Unnumbered frame: >> SAPI: 00 C/R: 0 EA: 0 >> TEI: 000 EA: 1

Siemens EWSD 13
Hi all, Has anyone got any experience with hooking Asterisk up with a Siemens EWSD 13 switch over a E1/PRI ? We're located in Belgium (Europe) and one of our telecom partners uses this switch. We connected one of our TE410P ports with their switch, but the status light on the TE410P card keeps blinking red. On their side they are getting a DSA (distance service alarm) error, so this

Is Asterisk ready for "real" use?
Okay, I am facing a move in two months to newly renovated space. I have to decide *this week* between: A) Pull LAN and phone cables, prepare to move and expand our "traditional" PBX (Panasonic KX-TD1232 and VPS200). or B) Pull only LAN cables, go VoIP, use Asterisk as PBX. It is *not* an option to purchase a VoIP system package from Cisco, 3com, etc. Installers are getting an
