sshd hack
I'm not really a programmer and I recently came across this hack to
insert a short sleep statement into auth-passwd.c within sshd. It seems
to quickly confuse automated dictionary attacks. I've moved sshd to
higher ports but apparently the cretins are now scanning to look for
that and attacking on whatever port sshd shows up on.
Anyway, the link to the hack is here:

Just wondering if any of the wizened programmers out there can think of
any reason why this would be a bad thing to do....

CentOS 6.4 apparent rpm problem
Well, after three days of beating my head against my desk, I'm waving
the white flag.? I've got a CentOS 6.4 box (yeah, I know) that I blew
away the OpenLDAP client and installed the freeipa-client as we're
transitioning off this terrible OpenLDAP implementation here.?
Everything installed fine, and while I'm still tweaking the ansible
playbook for completely flushing PAM and

excluded THAT particular package.

Re: Load Balancing
...hank the gentleman who allayed my fears about CentOS 5.1's
"yum update" download size. but all the same it turned out to be in
megabytes. not to mention the k3b *roasted* couple of DVD's to uselessness
and I am still giving explanations to the stupid ancient, retired, former
stupid cretin bean counters masquerading as "managers" and "management
Accountants" on. a piddly amount wasted.
I found this thread in the GMANE list as I subscribed to this list rather
late.
Let me propose a solution:
Let two nodes run the greatest ever CentOS 5.0 on two nodes.
Let two n...
