Swap
...Given a system with 2 Gb of memory, and at peak usage, top reports considerably less than the 2 gig amount in use, as well as system monitoring that never shows all available memory used, what would happen if you just turned swap off, and let memory handle things? This machine here, has now crept up to using just under 400mb of swap, yet I've never seen total memory usage above about 1.4gb. I'm a bit leary of just "swapoff" while the machine is running the weather model, as I'd hate to crash things, but I'm just wondering if turning off swap (assuming the syst...

Testing for 1.2beta2
Hi everyone, I'm planning on releasing Speex 1.2beta2 in the next few days. I'd appreciate if everyone could try and test the current svn to make sure no bug crept in for your favourite plarform/application. Cheers, Jean-Marc

Running specs in reverse
There is an option "--reverse" to run examples in the reverse order which is good for detecting inter-dependencies between examples. Is it feasible for rspec to automatically switch between "forward" and "reverse" order each time a spec is run? My goal is to detect inter-dependencies sooner than later... Thanks Alvin.

High load/corrupted indexes after moving mailboxes?
...) to ensure that mailbox contents (Maildir) will not be changed, rsynch'ed the mail to the new disks and restarted everything. When we restarted dovecot, we noticed a huge spike in load (average load in top and high cpu iowait) and isolated dovecot as the issue. At some point, the average load crept up to over 100 and crashed the server twice. However, over time the average load and cpu wait times went down slightly. I have noticed a spike in load after moving user's mail storage, but not like this. It almost looks like everyone is either re-indexing or re-caching their mail? Any help wou...

IAX Call token revisited
I just finished a fresh install of 1.8.3.2 at home using the packages Digium hosts. After correcting a number of typo/config'o error that had crept in over the years, I thought I had everything working. My wife just complained that she cannot call her mother (who is using an old IAX hardphone I left for her). After turning up the logging level I see- chan_iax2.c: Call rejected, CallToken Support required Which google cays can be fixed with:...

...ems would come up: [general] transferdigittimeout => 3 xfersound = beep [featuremap] blindxfer => # atxfer => *2 Tried change transferdigittimeout to something insanely long like 100, but still the same thing. I even fully restarted asterisk (just in case it was some weird fluke that crept in). This is 1.6.2.17.2. Someone else posted something extremely similar, though it's in version 1.8.2.3: http://forums.digium.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=77154 hose

R-alpha: Hypergeometric Distribution
A cut and paste typo has crept in and is rendering all values returned for the hypergeometric distribution incorrect. The problem is in src/main/arithmetic.c in the function "math4". The lines PROTECT(sy = allocVector(REALSXP, n)); a = REAL(sa); b = REAL(sb); c = REAL(sc); d =...

Bad merge of r5686 from trunk to 1.2-pre-release?
...h me. I will keep it short. Recently, changeset#5685 [1] caught my attention as I''ve been waiting for some date_helper love for a VERY long time. What bothered me is that when this changeset was merged into the 1.2- pre-release branch (at changeset#5686 [2]) a change to caching.rb crept in [3], which was not in the original patch. I didn''t notice a roll back in the revision log of caching.rb so I am assuming, no one has noticed yet? -christos [1] http://dev.rubyonrails.org/changeset/5685 [2] http://dev.rubyonrails.org/changeset/5686 [3] http://dev.rubyonrails.org/cha...

[LLVMdev] Multiple module support in MCJIT
...ainst any modules that are associated with the same instance of MCJIT. I do not intend (at this time) to address the case where modules have mutual dependencies on one another, though I imagine that will be a case that we'll want to handle in the future. There's a bit of ugliness that has crept in where RuntimeDyld maintains a module-related state. That wasn't supposed to happen and now that it has I'll have to do something about it. I'll need to do a bit of experimenting to determine the best/easiest approach to take at this time. I expect that what I'm going to do wil...

Samba 3.0.28a onwards "allow trusted domains" has no effect?
...AIN\domain admins:x:10512 Can anyone offer any advice on what to do about this? I am running 3.0.24 on Debian Etch and 3.0.28a on Gentoo, for which those are the latest stable versions packaged for the systems. I have tried 3.0.32 and the problem seems to occur there too. Is this a bug that has crept in after 3.0.24? -h -- Hari Sekhon

...te to /usr/local/samba/private/DNS. (I would like to know where this is defined so that I can update it) None of the issues I have run into are deal breakers at this point most just nice to have or nuisances. My question boils down to, at some point should I quit fighting the changes that have crept in with each update and start over again new. There are clearly dis-advantages to both scenarios. I am not aware of any way to backup the AD data in a way that would let me install a fresh domain then import the same machines and users. So I think I would be starting over from scratch. Any opi...

Sound quality issue in one direction and wctdm problem with APIC enabled kernel
I'm chasing down a pop/click type of disturbance on a PBX system. Strangely, the disturbance is only heard by the outside caller, the internal recipient hears the caller crystal clear. This seems to have crept up when upgrading the zaptel driver to the 1.2 series while running 1.0.10. I went ahead and upgraded the entire system to 1.2.4. The system is a ~2Ghz AMD 32bit system, with 512MB of memory and nothing other than Asterisk running. Phone traffic is minimal, perhaps 3 simultaneous calls max, but th...

Samba question - Out of File Structures
...significant as it appears in the SAMBA log when SAMBA starts. I'm guessing it's a Solaris OS limit. I'd like to increase the 1014 number to see if that makes any difference but I don't know how. This error is mentioned in the list procs archive as "fixed" in 2.0.5. Has it crept into 2.0.6? I can't see a binary distribution for 2.0.5 It's NT workstation 4 SP4. The server is SAMBA 2.0.6 (binary distribution) on Solaris 7. Apologies if I'm being a clutz. (The programmer assures me he is closing files!) The full branch is visible here: https://github.com/networkupstools/nut/compare/issue_138_altinterface_value A few other fixes and reorganizations crept into this patch, but they are either just reorganization (08c721d...) or a workaround for the *.orig files that patch typically leaves behind (4fc6f73...). https://github.com/networkupstools/nut/commit/08c721d67ca232d52c6b7d5e67182d56009f8cc7 https://github.com/networkupstools/nut/commit/4fc6f7384...
