bar and line plot
Hello All: Using the below dataset how can I make a barplot with Date(X) and NumEggs(Y) by Site. Then plot Temp(lineplot) It seems really simple, but I am having a hard time trying to do it by Site. Thanks Date NumEggs Site Temp 1 2008-04-22 0 Massacre Flat (RK424.5) 51.20 2 2008-04-23 0 Massacre Flat (RK424.5) 50.80 3 2008-04-24

Summary of data for each year
Hello All, I have a data with two columns. In one column it is date and in another column it is flow data. I was able to read the data as date and flow data. I used the following code: creek <- read.csv("creek.csv") library(ggplot2) creek[1:10,] colnames(creek) <- c("date","flow") creek$date <- as.Date(creek$date, "%m/%d/%Y") The link to my data

Function that is giving me a headache- any help appreciated (automatic read )
note: whole function is below- I am sure I am doing something silly. when I use it like USGS(input="precipitation") it is choking on the precip.1 <- subset(DF, precipitation!="NA") b <- ddply(precip.1$precipitation, .(precip.1$gauge_name), cumsum) DF.precip <- precip.1 DF.precip$precipitation <- b$.data part, but runs fine outside of the function: days=7

read.table error
R experts, I am working with a fairly large data set comprised of 563 rows by 116 columns including several different modes. I have been unable to read in the data set completely using the read.table function and the RGui (i.e. nearly half the total number of rows are missing from the data set along with the column names). The data does read in fully using Tinn-R's Rterm; however, at several

zoo merge() method
R users: I'd like to get some insight on an error I encounter when attempting to work with two moderately sized sets of time series data. FYI - I'm using the following versions of R and supporting packages on a Windows 2000 OS: - R version 2.4.1 (2006-12-18) - zoo version 1.2-2 - chron version 2.3-10 The two time series I'm working with are from the summer of 2004 and are: 1.)

Two y-axes boxplot
I am aware of the inherent risks of having plots with more than two axes, but I am trying to produce the graphs that I have been tasked with. That being said I am having a hard time figuring out how to have two axes onto a boxplot. below is the sample code. I would like BC on the plot produced with this code to be on a second axis with all of the others being on the first axis. This will be

choosing between Poisson regression models: no interactions vs. interactions
R gurus, I'm working on data analysis for a small project. My response variable is total vines per tree (median = 0, mean = 1.65, min = 0, max = 24). My predictors are two categorical variables (four sites and four species) and one continuous (tree diameter at breast height (DBH)). The main question I'm attempting to answer is whether or not the species identity of a tree has

for loop for automatic pdf generation
I know this is not reproducible, but I don't want to clog up mail boxes with the data frame. I would be happy to send this off list. I am sure that I am missing something simple. The plotting works if I just paste the call to qplot into R and replace the [i] with a number. Thanks for all of your help in advance. #loop to spit out PDFs list.names <-

sqlFetch and factor conversion
R users, Hello, I used sqlFetch to import a data table from MS Access 2007 and I set as.is = TRUE to prevent character vectors from becoming factors. However, I can't figure out how to prevent the $ operator from being added by sqlFetch to the end of each character vector(e.g. TD$ and SITE$). This causes subsequent parts of my code not to work and also results in some behavior that I

What's the best way to approach reading and parse large XLSX files?
Hello, I''m developing an app that basically, receives a 10MB or less XLSX files with +30000 rows or so, and another XLSX file with about 200rows, I have to read one row of the smallest file, look it up on the largest file and write data from both files to a new one. I just did a test reading a few rows from the largest file using ROO (Spreadsheet doesn''t support XSLX and

subset based on column names and then subset based on the inverse (grep?, or...)
I would like to be able to grab x and y columns out of a dataframe and then grab all of the columns that are not equal to x or y. I am sure that I am missing something easy. ftbr_UTM_downstream <- (structure(list(site = c("Jennie_Creek_Main_Stem", "Wolf_Pit_Creek_Main_Stem", "Little_Rockfish_Main_Stem_North", "Big_Muddy_Creek_Main_Stem",

Lattice: Understanding How Points Connected by Lines
A data frame has one factor, one date, and one numeric column. When I plot these using the default pch of the open circle (first attachment), xyplot(TDS ~ sampdate | she.s, data = sheep.cast, main = 'TDS in Sheep Creek', ylab = 'Concentration (mg/L)', xlab = 'Time') I see the higher concentration points toward the right on several panels. But, when I change to using a

Embracing .99
We're stuck on RHEL 4.x, so we're currently working on a plan to live in harmony with .99 for another year or so. With that said, the plan is below. Let me know if you have any other recommendations. [ ]Convert to high-performance mode vice high-security to reduce overall resource usage. [ ]Implement iptables throttling for new connections to prevent denials of service. [ ]Covert from

DTrace merged ready for 7.1
This is a belated heads up to let you know that I have merged DTrace to the releng7 branch in the nick of time before the feature freeze for 7.1. Those astute mailing list readers will note that the commit message appears to have gone missing. Well, either the dog ate it or subversion decided that it was for certain eyes only (and not yours, or mine). I have added a note to src/UPDATING

Duplicate Messages, Different X-UIDs?
We're running into an issue where sendmail is only receiving one e-mail, but after a client accesses the message via IMAP and moves it to another IMAP folder, the message duplicates but each message has different X-UID headers. Has anyone ever seen this type of anomaly before? Is it a bad IMAP client, or a known bug? Running 1.0.7 Thanks!

need tick marks by 10s or 20s up to 200 on x axis
Sorry, I have read other posts on tick marks but nothing is working. Here is my R code. I was able to turn off the x axis at one point (I removed that code), but never got the tick marks on by 20s. It always goes to the default of 50, 100, 150, 200. Thanks. R code: hist(OMY$FL, main = "2010 Oncorhynchus mykiss Fork Length Frequencies at Buck Creek Reach 1", include.lowest = TRUE,

Ternary Plots Do Not Display Ellipses in PDF
A rather strange situation here and I've not found the source of the problem. The point is to print a ternary plot matrix of compositional data with ellipses enclosing 95% of the variance in each plot. The ellipses display on the monitor, dev = x11cairo (see attached winters-x11cairo.pdf), but not when sent directly to a file, dev = pdf (see attached winters-pdf.pdf). Here's
