RHEL4 + 2.6.11 and Puppet CA/Master at 2.7.9
Hello,
As the 2.7 branch doesn''t seem to be available for RHEL4 (yes I know
EOS next week) am trying to use a 2.6.11 client for our new Puppet
infrastructure to replace the creaking one we have now.
The POC setup is all running behind an F5 with a pair of CA''s and
seperate pool of Puppet Masters.
RHEL5/6 clients running 2.7.9 work fine. The older version on RHEL4
gives me SSL issues "does not match" etc. Full clean out tried as per
usual but nothing wor...

Date vs date
...ealous OO types, but in designing a class I have found that they
often know more than me!
4. Variation on #3 above
> (as.Date('2007-9-14') - as.Date('1953-3-10')) / 365.25
Time difference of 54.51335 days
No, I am not 54.5 days old. Both hair color and knee creaking most
definitely proclaim otherwise, I am sorry to say. Time difference / number
should be a number.

but the format is certainly not ambiguous. (Not standard, but not ambiguous).
Not important to fix, not...

Small Files/Load Average Information
...ight be upwards of 5,000
files in each spool directory.
Since we have around eight people using Sage and, via the program, accessing
these spool directories then the server goes berserk. It got to the point
where we were looking at a load average of +8.0! Needless to say the whole
server started creaking.
Once we had got the Sage users to clear out the spool directories (this is a
unfortunately a manual process) everything went back to the normal 0.01 -
0.20 load average. The only way around this is to kick the Sage people each
month to clear their stuff out.
We have a similar experience if th...

["Eric S. Raymond" <esr@snark.thyrsus.com>] The Trove project -- next-generation Internet software archiving (fwd)
There's a design document accessible in HTML there that describes the
project's objectives and present status in detail.
I'm aiming high. I want the maintainers of the major existing
archives to buy in early, so that by year-end the present creaking
infrastructure can be replaced with something better. I can deliver
Sunsite myself. The Python community's leaders are already on board,
and so is Red Hat. And we've had an expression of interest from
CPAN's maintainer. Anybody else running an archive site is urged to
join now so...

XP join and logon
Hi
My plan is joining XP Pro client to authenticate via Samba 3.0 domain or
workgroup.
The problem is the XP client at first login interface didnt show logon
location like to "This Computer" and "AJK-ITS" workgroup, so it cannot
authenticate to Samba Server.
Any help would be appreciated.
I have configured those machines like these:
on XP Pro client I've set:
