dos filetime resolution and dvf
I am not getting much benefit from using oplocks = False or dos filetime resolution = True in Samba 1.9.18p3 on Solaris 2.5.1 and the Developer Studio in Digital Visual Fortran (v6.0) on WinNT4,SP4. I am also setting my PC clock to the samba server. I still get a lot of messages from the Studio informing me the source code files and workspaces have changed outside the editor or Studio

Dovecot default inbox name?
...es concerning this process but I can't seem to find the answer to one particular question. What is the default name of the inbox when using maildir format? I need to create this in advance for each user and I don't know what dovecot is expecting for the inbox directory name. -- Andy Cravens

Corrupted index files
I'm using alpha 5 and I'm getting "Corrupted index cache files" errors on one user's account. I found several posts in the mail archives on this subject and concluded from the responses that it's not a serious problem because Dovecot can deal with it. I deleted the index files and they were recreated but the error persists. The end user did not notice any problem

Another "Too many files open" post
I'm running Solaris 9 Sparc with Dovecot alpha 5 and using maildir format.. I noticed in the log file the following error: dovecot: Dec 20 15:54:18 Error: imap(xxxxxxxx): open(/export/home/xxxxxxxx/mail/.Sent Messages/cur/1135013649.002916.mbox:2,Sab) failed: Too many open files I called the guy and asked him what he was doing... synching his folders. subscriptions or .subscriptions?
I may have found a problem with the documentation concerning the subscriptions file. On the Dovecot web site there is a document that outlines the conversion from UW IMAP to Dovecot. The document says Dovecot's folder list is stored in ".subscriptions" However, I have found that Dovecot's folder list is really "subscriptions" without the preceding dot. Did

Problems with alpha3 + openssl-0.9.8
Has anybody successfully compiled alpha 3 with the newly released openssl-0.9.8? I just wasted the weekend trying to get dovecot to compile using the new openssl libs. Openssl-0.9.7d works like dream. Just wanted to know if anybody had this combo working.

Question on moving folders
Is there a way to move an imap subfolder up one level? I have a bad mouse and every now and then I have accidentally dragged an imap folder on top of another folder. I am unable to get the original folder back up one level. I've tried using several clients and I can't get it to work with dovecot. I keep getting a "folder already exists" message. I'm guessing dovecot

Maildir and counting inodes
I've been testing with alpha 3 and I am about ready to go production. I am switching from mbox to maildir and I'd like to know if there is a formula or rule of thumb for determining if your file system will have enough inodes to handle all the mail message files. I could write a script to look at each user's mbox files, count the number messages and calculate the average number

Think I'm sure, but confirm: lme4 vs. nlme
The impression I get from the list and the references I've perused is that nlme is being phased out in favor of lme4, but lme4 still doesn't have a complete feature set yet. What I'm still fuzzy on, being a relative R newbie, is: (a) what features in nlme are currently missing in lme4 (b) what's the projected time frame on getting them implemented. If anyone can answer my naive

need help with smooth.spline
Dear R listers, When using smooth.spline to interpolate data, results are generally good. However, some cases produce totally unreasonable results. The data are values of pressure, temperature, and salinity from a probe that is lowered into the ocean, and the objective is to interpolate temperature and salinity to specified pressures. While smooth.spline provides excellent values at the

help with observe_field :on
Try as I may, I cannot figure out how to make the :on option work with the observe field method. I have looked into the javascript that is eventually called, and it does not appear that there is any way to override which event is bound for which control. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks -- Phil

Help with ajax and form submission
While working on a new application, a friend and I ran into a problem with using ajax. Users are used to being able to modify the contents of a screen until they are finished and then saving (committing). There does not seem to be a way to do this with ajax, since you have to modify the model whenever you call back to the server. The half baked solution that we came up with is to create a
