Strange problem with HP DeskJet 980cxi and HP Color InkJet CP1700
...are connected via JetDirect-boxes to the network. Printers like the HP LaserJet 4100 work fine with the Microsoft and the HP drivers. A double click on the printer icon in the network neighbourhood downloads the driver and the printer is accessible. For the HP DeskJet 980 cxi and HP Color Inkjet CP1700 we only have the original HP drivers. After downloading them from the server the printer is not accessible. If I try to view the properties dialog of the printer I receive an access-violation (0xc0000005) from Explorer.exe and I'm unable to print :-< The only printer driver I got the DJ 980...

I have a few different problems with samba 2.2.5 PLEASE HELP
...t name for all other services and we have other boxes running samba 2.2.2 on Tru64 UNIX and the short names work just fine to connect to them, and I largely copied the configuration I am using off of the primary server. 2) The purpose of this machine is to be a print server for an HP Color Inkjet CP1700. This is a fully supported printer and I have it setup correctly on Linux. I am using LPRng as my printing system and can even print from my Windows Clients when I use locally supplied drivers. However since this is supposed to be a easy to use, public printer I do not want the users having to m...

I am using Redhat Linux 7.3 and Samba 2.2.5 with the srv_spoolss_nt.patch patch and the parse_sec.patch patch and the clients I have tried so far have been Windows XP boxes, although we do have Win 2k boxes that will use the same driver as well. When I have the clients just install driver...

On a different note, after I manually created and attached the drivers, I found that when I connect to the printer from Windows and try to open the properties menu for this printer a protection fault. This is an HP CP1700 printer. When I use client side drivers, everything works fine. Why would putting the drivers onto the server make such a difference? Thanks for the help.
