Q: Samba AD, Pfsense, Windows 10, vpn
...on in an AD setup. I'm running a pfsense appliance firewall. NAT on the internal network. Is there a way to allow employees to authenticate and access files to encourage remote work? What resource should I look to to figure this out? Really have no clue where to start. If it wasn't for Covid19, this would not be a need. Appreciate any pointers. marco

CentOS 8 updates
...date. Is there a backlog of CentOS 8 updates behind the 8.2 release? I noticed on a few occasions that my local mirroring had picked up and later deleted a lot of "tmp" files for CentOS 8, is that an indication that something is on the way? I understand that everyone is struggling with Covid19 restrictions, so just tell me to get back into my isolation if I'm just a bit too impatient. -- Cheers Bill

These are updates to CentOS 8.2 which is in the works. Once CentOS 8.2 has been released, the 8.2 updates will flow shortly afterwards.

Personally, I'd just setup an Openvpn server within your site, generate keys for each user as needed, open the firewall for the port(s) of your choice and finally setup the Openvpn clients on the users' laptops/pcs. Once the...

The number of threads has nothing to do with the number of cores on the machine. It depends on the I/O, network speed, type of workload etc. We usually start with 32 threads and increase if necessary. You can check the statistics with: watch 'cat /proc/net/rpc/nfsd | grep th? Or you can check on the client nfsstat -rc Client rpc stats: calls retrans authrefrsh 1326777974 0

...m had not the right MTU (1500 instead of 9000). I don't know why. I changed the MTU to 9000 yesterday and I'm looking at the logs now to see if the problems occur again. I will try to increase the number of nfs daemon in a few day, to check each setup change one after the other. Because of covid19, I'm working from home so I should be really careful when changing the setup of the servers. On a cluster node I try to set "rsize=1048576,wsize=1048576,vers=4,tcp" (I cannot have a larger value for rsize/wsize) but comparison with the mount using default setup do not show significan...
