Migrate courierimapsubscribed to subscriptions
Hi
here's a little trick to migrate from courierimapsubscribed to subscriptions:
create a file /usr/local/bin/courier-dovecot-subscribe-migrate like this:
#!/bin/sh
# WARNING: Be sure to use mail_drop_priv_before_exec=yes,
# otherwise the files are created as root!
if [ -e ~/Maildir/courierimapsubscribed ]
then
cat ~/Maildir/courierimapsubscribed | sed -e...

Problem migration from Courier-Imap to Dovecot
Dear friends,
My intention is to migrate from Courier-Imap
Dovecot 4.4.1 to 1.1.16, the problem is that I've noticed that when
creating folders using the Courier does not create the file
courierimapsubscribed therefore I doubt if this will bring me problems
trying to perform the migration script by courier-dovecot-migrate.pl

folders not subscribed
when migrated from courier-imap,
I found that all the sub-folders are not subscribed, I have to manually
subscribe all of them.
It is not very practical since many of my users have complicated folder
structure...
Is it possible that the dovecot server auto-subscribe all sub-folders if
the ".subscriptions" is not present in the Maildir?
Thanks,
Jerry

courier-dovecot-migrate.pl issue
Hi,
I'm testing migration from courier to courier-0.57.0 to
dovecot-imap-1.1.12 on a debian/sid box.
When running the migration script, non of the active users'
"courierimapsubscribed" and "courierimapuiddb" files seem to be
detected:

Migrating from courier-imap to dovecot
...s but it
sometimes happens that one overlooks something. I did read the migration
notes three times!
My users are in /etc/passwd and I am running dovecot in IMAP only
mode.
I did put default_mail_env = maildir:~/Maildir in dovecot.conf, then
for one user, I did the following:
cd ~wash/Maildir
cp courierimapsubscribed .subscriptions # Then I edited to remove "INBOX."
cp courierimapuiddb dovecot-uidlist
The permissions are right, but when I login as this user, I don't see
all the folders that had been there before when he was using
courier-imap!!
When I login to the web interface (we use Squirrelm...

Repair/Cleaup Maildir
....
So far, fingers crossed, the issue has not re-occured.
Migrating from courier-imap/sqwebmail to Dovecot/Squirrelmail was
reasonably painless but I now have an problem.
Is there a utility available to cleanup/repair the maildir tree for each
user ?
As part of the migration, I copied all of the courierimapsubscribed
files to .subscriptions and removed the leading 'INBOX'. This seemed to
be enough to get things going.
Unfortunately, people who had only ever used webmail didn't have a
courierimapsubscribed file. When they next used squirrelmail, a
new .subscriptions file was created but didn't c...

Migration problems from Courier-Imap
Hi,
I'm migrating from Courier-Imap to Dovecot-Imapd and I have some problems..
I don't want to change the IMAP folders, so I wish to have Dovecot's
compatibility with Courier's IMAP folders.
In the Dovecot configuration I configured this:
namespace private {
separator = .
prefix = INBOX.
inbox = yes
}
Dovecot correctly shows me the INBOX folder, but doesn't show me the

Migration from Courier to dovecot
...works fine. However after
running "courier-dovecot-migrate.pl" the Courier-Files still remain in
the Maildir.
Can i just delete those Courier-specific-files or does dovecot need them
somehow (do you normally get rid of these after conversion)?
It's about these files:
courierimapacl
courierimapsubscribed
courierimapuiddb
courierpop3dsizelist
And those directories:
courierimaphieracl
courierimaphieracl
Can i simply delete those with "find" ? Furthermore: is it possible to
convert back from Dovecot-Format to Courier-Format?
Thanks in advance,
Werner

Maildir migration: Courier-imap 4.4.3 to Dovecot 1.2.
...rently gathering information about migration of Maildir/
structures from Courier to Dovecot.
What do you think about http://wiki.dovecot.org/Migration/Courier ?
For each courier Maildir account I want to use
http://www.dovecot.org/tools/courier-dovecot-migrate.pl to produce
dovecot-uidlist file
mv courierimapsubscribed subscriptions
sed sed -i 's/INBOX\.//' subscriptions
rm -r courierimaphieracl
rm courierimapacl
rm courierimapkeywords
I want also to leave default pop3_uidl_format (%08Xu%08Xv) in dovecot.conf
Should I look into something else? Have I missed something?
Best regards,
Rafal.

Poor pop3 over nfs performance
Hi,
About a week ago I upgraded our reasonably heavily loaded mail servers
from a pretty recent courier version to dovecot-1.1rc10. IMAP
performance on dovecot is amazing, however POP3 performance is worse
than courier :-( I have uploaded some munin graphs taken today to
http://linweb.atlas.pipex.net/dovecot/; the dovecot server is handling
about 2000 pop logins/sec and 300 imap sessions (but

Switch from courier to dovecot
I have an courier IMAP server running. To get sib dirs working I had to
rename them all to begin with a period ".".
e.g
Maildir
Maildir/{cur,new,tmp}
Maildir/.account1/{cur,new,tmp}
Maildir/.account2/{cur,new,tmp}
Maildir/.account3/{cur,new,tmp}
etc
If I uninstall Courier and install dovecot, will these "period" dirs be
seen by default?
I am fairly new to this and

...y, making it a real pain to otherwise manually
rename or remove all of them.
Here's a plain-English summary of what the script currently does, when
given a Courier maildir path as an argument:
- check that the given path is indeed a valid Courier maildir, and exit if not
- rename the file 'courierimapsubscribed' to 'subscriptions', and
strip the 'INBOX.' prefix from its contents
- recursively rename all of files of the name 'courierimapuiddb' to
'dovecot-uidlist'
- recursively delete all of files of the name 'courierimaphieracl',
'courierimapacl' and ...

Mixed Courier POP3 and Dovecot IMAP environment
...ot IMAP will look for/use
'courierimapuiddb' instead of 'dovecot-uidlist': otherwise I guess POP3
and IMAP users will have different UID files, right? Is this smart or
will this still break the UID file?
- "Patch" the source so Dovecot IMAP will look for/use
'courierimapsubscribed' instead of 'subscriptions' of should I just go
with the renaming of the files?
I'm thinking about patching so the transition can be as transparent as
possible: Also if anything might go wrong in production I want to be
able to switch back to the 'old' Courier IMAP (with...

OK, I am running (for many years now) an existing courier_imap maildir

I installed dovecot 1.0 beta 7 as a test and have it listening on a
different port. I would like, if possible, to set things up so that
a user could use either dovecot or courier. Having to

Index corruption with squirrelmail.
Hi.
I don't know if the problem is related with squirrelmail or not, but I
started to have index corruption when I started to try squirrelmail.
