maildri++ quota
When is the maildir quota usages recalculated and written to the
second line of the "maildirsize" file?
I'm using 1.1.4, and I reset the quotas for my users by just taking
the first line of their maildirsize file and deleting the rest.

Courier->Dovecot Migration Issue
...w up. Even stranger is the fact that these same messages do appear when
using Outlook 2k7 for instance. The common denominator for when the
messages are missing seems to be whether or not the message appeared in both
the Courier IMAP and Courier POP3 uid files. The missing messages appear in
the CourierIMAP file, but NOT the Courier POP file. Here is a snippet from
the resulting Dovecot-uidlist file:

thunderbird and email duplication
Hi all,
I have recently switched over to Dovecot from CourierIMAP trying for
some speedup, which I did get. Installation went OK, so all seemed fine.
But suddenly I realised, that incoming emails are replicating
themselves. This seems only to happen when connected with Thunderbird. I
am also using Squirrelmail and KMail as clients which don't seem to show...

maildir++ specification compliance.
Hi folks.
I was doing some testing this morning and realized Dovecot RC2 isn't fully
compliant with the maildir++ specification.
Most notably, it appears that Dovecot isn't creating a "maildirfolder"
file (0 byte length) in folders it creates.
>From http://www.inter7.com/courierimap/README.maildirquota.html
"Within each subdirectory there's an empty file, maildirfolder. Its
existence tells the mail delivery agent that this Maildir is a really a
folder underneath a parent Maildir++."
and
"Make sure to create the maildirfolder file in any new folders create...

Panic: file istream.c: line 167 with 2.2.13 + istream.c/.h from dovecot-2-2-dffc6dd2be0d
...: Fatal: master:

These can of course be fixed with maildir-size-fix.pl and deleting
dovecot index files, but there are thousands like these. Dovecot 1.2
didn't have any issues with these old maildirs transfered over from
courierimap.

Maildir++ quota inconsistency
I've found what I think is an inconsistency in the Maildir quota
implementation. According to the Maildir++ quota specification at:
http://www.inter7.com/courierimap/README.maildirquota.html
Maildir++ quota can be specified as maximum size, or maximum number of
messages, or even both. The size specification is supposed to be in bytes.
So I could use '10000000S' to set a quota of around 10MB.
Now, the Exim MTA has an independent Maildir++ quota imple...

Best way to upgrade domain from control by 2.2.5 PDC to control by 3.0.20b PDC
...q server can be upgraded to Gentoo and be back in business as the PDC)?
e) Relating to the set of questions in (c), if I have an existing
openldap-v2.2.27 server running with a few LDAP Directories (with a
domain/contact sort of schema built from LDAP fields in existing schemas
like inetperson and courierimap and a few others) in it on a third
server, would it be possible to use one of the existing Directories as
the ldap backend authentication source for the new samba server or would
I need to create a new Directory with a "samba-only" schema to be the
ldap backend?
Thanks for any replies....

What is the recommended way to delete a message from a mailbox ?
Hi,
I'm implementing a shell-script (pseudo) solution to the missing IMAP Outbox
feature in Dovecot (Courier IMAP feature
http://www.inter7.com/courierimap/INSTALL.html#imapsend)
In order to remove the message from the Outbox once it is sent I have a
question:
What is the recommended way to delete a message from a mailbox (from an
"external" server side program - such as a shell script) ?
Can I just remove the file from the mailbox - I c...

Maildir + Evolution
I don't know if this is an Evolution bug or not, but when I use the
maildir format with Dovecot 0.99.10p2 (from OpenBSD packages collection)
and connect to it from Evolution 1.4 using IMAP, Evolution displays
subfolders incorrectly. It actually does not show any subfolders, only
root folders with names like "Folder.Subfolder" and
"Folder.Subfolder.Subsubfolder".

Beta 7 maildir++ "unlimited quota"
Hi.
It looks like Beta 7 is treating a zero quota in maildirsize as a literal
quota value. The maildir++ specification says a zero quota means
unlimited.

Maildir++ implementation issues.
...ese when reading the maildirsize
file in maildirsize_parse(). It appears to be using sscanf to look for
numeric entries:
if (sscanf(*lines, "%lld %d", &bytes_diff, &count_diff) != 2)
I've read and re-read the maildir++ specification at
http://www.inter7.com/courierimap/README.maildirquota.html and can't
understand why Maildrop implements things this way.

The problem is that a user can't move messages to Trash while being

Help with vpopmail authentication
Hello,
Currently I have a qmail server with vpopmail+courierImap. I want setup
a new server in DMZ for proxy IMAP connections and I have a doubt with
authentication method.
I've read that dovecot can use a vpopmail driver for authentication. As
my user database/password is stored by vpopmail, I think that this would
be the best method for check the auth log...

maildir++ quota support on dovecot
Some information about maildir++ that I have read:
http://www.inter7.com/courierimap/README.maildirquota.html
http://wiki2.dovecot.org/Quota/Maildir
When I have to deliver a message with an MDA I can use dovecot-lda.
If I have enabled "quota = maildir:User quota" I am pretty sure that in
the mailbox on file system I find a file named "maildirsize"

quota calculating
Hey everyone,
Currently where I work we use qmail. Every time a message is delivered,
qmail seems to walk through the user's entire maildir in order to
calculate quota usage. Delivering messages simultaneously to just a few
users who are allowed large maildirs (1-2GB) will bring our servers to
their knees. Which brings me to dovecot. I use dovecot whereever I can,
but haven't yet

Maildir structure question
Hello,
About the INBOX location when using maildir, in the wiki,
http://wiki.dovecot.org/MailboxFormat/Maildir, I can read:
"
Directory Structure
~/Maildir/new, ~/Maildir/cur and ~/Maildir/tmp directories contain
the messages for INBOX. The tmp directory is used during delivery, new
messages arrive in new and read shall be moved to cur by the clients.
"
But in my Maildir, I see
