Requiring a login to a phone
Hi List,
We have a remote asterisk SIP phone at the cottage.
I'd like it to have minimal privileges when it first registers with
Asterisk. Ideally it should be in a restricted context. Dialing any
number would intercept the call and tell the person to log on. This
way, if the phone was stolen or someone got into the cottage, we
wouldn't have a bu...

Looking for large-ish deployment advice
...ideas? As I've
only done relatively small and simple samba deployments in the past, I'm
sure there are some more advanced features that I don't know about that
might make this possible. Would DFS work?

Which Linux distribution?
We have tried Asterisk 1.0.9 on FC4 and have never
been able to get CAPI (with Fritz card, fcpci) to work
properly. Apart from that Asterisk works fine in
switching internal calls. But it's useless if we can't
make outgoing calls on our ISDN line.
We are considering abandoning FC4 for Debian or SuSe.
What is the general concensus on the best Linux to run
Asterisk with CAPI?

forecasting correlation with Garch
Hello R group,
I'm using the tseries package to forecast variance and I would like to do
the same with correlation.
I can't find any way to do that with the function garch().
for example,
I have a matrix of time series

Adding another channel to a Dial() already in progress
...'ve been brainstorming an application that would take an incoming call and present
it to several interfaces, some of which would be external to the system.
So, a call comes into the * on a PRI DID and then will dial out to the user's desk
phone, as well as their cell phone, home phone, cottage, whatever. Whomever
answers first gets the call. No big deal so far, right?
Here's where I get stuck. After 2 or 3 rings I want the reception phone ADDED to the
call. By this I mean that I don't want the other phones to STOP ringing (that'd just be
another step after the timeout o...

Integrating with existing analog PBX
Hi.
Am new to this concept but have been requested to add VOIP capability to a
small office phone system.
They currently have 4 standard analog lines running into a PBX feeding 16
phones, with all the usual features,
call transfer
call hold
internal calls
etc.
would the following seem reasonable ?
asterisk server:- ( what specs )
cat5 > broadband (VOIP)
4 FXO's for incoming PSTN

bayhamsystems.com experience
Hi all,
Anyone using their services ?
I'm thinking of setting up my servers with their service.
But before starting to mess with my extensions.conf I thought "let's check
the community for their experience".
Thanks,
Michiel van Baak.

wxWindow 2.6.2 Released
More information here:
ftp://biolpc22.york.ac.uk/pub/2.6.2/changes-2.6.2.txt
I am compiling now. There are only a sprinkling of new functions.
Since we''re still not beta I see no reason not to upgrade to 2.6.2.
I''ll try to get some patch files for the new functions (that we''ll
actually use) sometime this weekend maybe.
What''s everyone else working on?

sipura ata 3000 UK (BT) CAllerid
Hi
I wonder whether anyone got the Sipura ata 3000 to decode British
Telecoms callerid and pass it to asterisk?
The userguide seems to suggest that this is not possible, is that right?

SOLVED: Hung Zap channels connected to old key system
We've got a Toshiba DK system w/ analog ports that went to a
voicemail server. I swapped in an Asterisk box with a Digium 4-port
fxo card. It /almost/ worked perfectly.
The problem is that Zap channels never hang up. They have to time out.
I set up MeetMe, but all Zap channels hung forever. Very annoying.
Same thing for FXO-to-FXO bridges.
I figured out today why and fixed it.

caller id ring tones for Asterisk Phone
I'm going to be rolling out asterisk at a small office and one requested
feature was the ability to have a phone that can be configured so that
ringtones can be configured according to the callerid of the caller.
Does anyone have Asterisk experience with such a phone? Any suggestions
would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!!!

12 seat call centre with Asterisk, VoIP only, UK - possible?
Hi,
I've had an inquiry for a small UK call centre, mostly outbound calls.
I get the impression they
are mainly calling 3G mobile phones, monthly phone bill, with calls is
approx ?5,000 for several
feature lines.
How feasible is something like this with asterisk?
I guess one big question is which type of circuit to use, ADSL in the
UK is only 256kbs upstream,
some providers do bonding but

Fritz card technology & German *
Hi all,
I've been working with * for a long time now, but only with analog FXS/FXO
systems.
I am venturing towards setting up a box in Germany now and I believe that
requires a Fritz card? Do I even have to use the Fritz cards? Why not a
Digium card....
We have 2 ISDN lines ( --> 6 handsets) so I'm guessing that will require 2
Fritz PCI cards (they have 1 port only). Then
