Recover files from overwritten zpool?
To make a long story short, after a Solaris reinstall I needed to access
a disk from the previous install. I realize now I should have done a
zpool import, but instead I recreated the pool, thinking this would
bring my file system back. I destroyed the new pool, but other than that
I have done nothing to overwrite data.
Is it possible to recover the data from the old pool?

wait for graph to finish plotting
I want to plot and then save graphs in a loop.
The problem is that the graphs take too long to plot. Execution jumps to the save command (dev.copy2eps)
before the plotting has finished, and so the wrong graph is saved.
I works fine if I step through slowly command at a time, but I want to do it programmatically.
How can I tell R to wait for the graph to finish?
I have tried Sys.sleep, but that

Messages does not appear in OE6
Hi List!
I have an issue with dovecot: Outlook express users sometimes can't see
some emails (they are not even listed) that can be seen with other IMAP
clients, I tested it (and it works) with Evolution, Outlook and
SquirrelMail (a web mail).
Please note that this is not the client bug reported at
http://dovecot.org/clients.html with the message: "Message is no longer

Fw: share a folder rw, but not deletable?
...ir/" and that didn't work... as now the users could not r/w data within
the directory. I don't want the directories to be renamed or deleted.
Windows has the "delete" permissions available -- but not samba?
Any UNIX/Samba suggestions?
thanks, peace

Feature request?
I'd like to toss a feature request on the table for consideration. We
currently use a different popd because of a feature that allows us to
restrict pop access based upon an allowed users list. This is the only
thing that keeps us from using the popd in dovecot currently. It's a
simple text file of usernames that are allowed to use pop, if the name
isn't in that list then pop

Printing w/CUPS, Samba 2.2 - Adobe PS files?
I'm following the Samba HOWTO for CUPS printing, trying to run the
'cupsaddsmb' program but it requires the Adobe PS files. The howto says
to get them from www.adobe.com, can anyone be more specific?
The files required are:
ADFONTS.MFM
ADOBEPS4.DRV
ADOBEPS4.HLP
ADOBEPS5.DLL
ADOBESU.DLL
ADOBESU.HLP
ADOBEPTR2.PPD
ICONLIB.DLL
I've downloaded the "Universal 1.0.6 English"

Sync Linux <-> NT Domain passwords
Is there a way to syncronise the Windows Domain passwords
with the linux account passwords?
SAMBA passes authentication to an NT box
password server = *
Users have local accounts on the Linux box and get access to SAMBA shares
depending on which group (linux) they belong to and if their authentication
credentials were correct.
I've tried synchronising their passwords so when they change

cupsaddsmb -v, Warning: PPD file not found?!
Hello all,
I am running a Debian testing/unstable system with samba 2.2.3a-6 and
cupsys 1.1.15-4 as a member server in a samba domain. I have used CUPS to
add a networked HP8100N printer and it works fine locally, but I'm having
difficulty adding it to samba for Win98 domain clients to use.
I ran cupsaddsmb to add the printer and drivers to samba, but it cannot
find the PPD file... where is

dummy variable encoding
Hi,
can anyone tell me why an encoding of 1/2 for a dummy variable for
two groups (e.g. gender) seems to be preferred over 0/1?
It's been bugging me for a while, 0/1 seems more natural, but I have
been told (without explanation) that 1/2 is better. Why?

preserving unix->win file permissions for backup via samba?
I am having difficulty in try to preserve permissions on Unix files that
are copied from the samba server onto a Windows98 system, and then copied
again via samba back to an 'upload' directory on the samba server.
Specifically, I am sharing "/etc" (samba read only) for backup purposes,
and while logged in as "root" on the windows system, I can drag and drop
these files

Errors and periodic corruption using 99.10.5 release with mbox
Hi,
I'm seeing these errors in our logs periodically:
file istream.c: line 135 (i_stream_skip): assertion failed: (stream->v_size
== 0 || stream->v_offset + count <= stream->v_size)
Timeout leak: 0x8069328
Any idea on what may be causing these? System is freebsd, format is mbox.
I'm also seeing periodic corruption of mailboxes. It's easily fixed
because it's
