Does a (read-only) multicast for relevant events make any sense (except for data protection issues)? I am considering writing a small proxy that does exactly that with correspondig changes for my Telephony Service Provider (TSP). Would it make any sense to implement this as an option for the Asterisk program? Basically, Actions and Action responses via TCP and Events via multicast? jg

After this i extract the archiv at /usr/src, renamed the dir linux to linux-2.4.14 and made a symlink linux-2.4. Hi Alexander, The kind of firewall i have uses the basic iptables which came with the installation CDs of linux-SuSE. I installed SuSE 8.1 which has a firewall that has to be activated. But now, u know, i can't find the file containing the iptables so as to adjust the rules. When i try "iptables -L" in console mode i can see all the rules. I think i need to add some new rules

Hello! It seems, that Vista SP1 and Server 2008 cannot join an NT4/Samba-domain. Vista once could join before SP1, if one did some modifications to the system (LAN Manager authentication level, Encryption of secure channel). But these workarounds do not seem to work with SP1 anymore. Microsoft points out that joining NT4-domains with Vista SP1 and Server 2008 is not supported/tested
