how to include FLAC in a CoreAudio wave player
Hi everyone, I'm still new at this audio development thing in OSX as all of my prior experience is in database applications. I'm also new to C++ and the Xcode environment, which makes things interesting as I learn. There is a CoreAudio wave player written in C++ to which I would like to add FLAC playback support. I have looked through the libFLAC++ API and think I have an idea of what files/functions to use, but am not really sure how to go about implementing them. I think I want to use the file decoder class so I can just pass...

Core Audio player for OS X?
There are a few flac players on OS X now, but none (at least none that i know of) seem to use Core Audio. So they all freak out if i try to play a 24/96 file. I was recently poking around with the Tiger X Code tools and there's a simple core audio player in there /Developer/Examples/CoreAudio/Services/AudioFileTools/ called afplay. how hard would it be to get this thing playing flac files? I've very new to CoreAudio, but I know there was some discussion about it regarding flac back in July... Scott

Support for CAF in flac command-line?
Hello all, Is anyone here potentially up to the task of adding support for CAF (the CoreAudio Format) into the flac command-line? This would present minimal difficulty under OSX, due to the presence of the CoreAudio API, but the real challenge would be to support CAF on Unix and Windows - everywhere that flac is now available. Although the format is rather unknown, there are some ve...

Mac x86: CoreAudio Problem
Hi all, just installed wine 0.9.24 and all works fine except the sound. If some program tries to use audio wine crashes. Sadly the debugger doesn't work (can't attach to process) so where could be the problem. Running wine under apple X11. Cheers, Patrick

Core Audio player for OS X?
...e Audio. So they all freak out if i try to play a 24/96 > file. Without even worrying about your 24/96 issue, which OSX flac player have you been using? Here's what I've tried, and why it doesn't work well for me: - the old MacAmp player - very crashy - xmms - works, even with coreaudio output (xmms-coreaudio plugin, make sure to apply the patch that tells OS X that it's a realtime thread). however, i have a second sound card (usb griffin iMic) that's hooked to the stereo, i'd like music to go there and system audio to continue to go to the main sound out....

Support for CAF in flac command-line?
...iner/wrapper. I would want the ability to convert FLAC to CAF directly, hopefully without an intermediate Ogg file (since I'm talking about file sizes where each is over 4 GB). QuickTime is a very good suggestion, and gets two platforms supported rather than one, as the AudioFile API in CoreAudio would do. However, QuickTime tends to be rather limited, and when developers run into those limitations, Apple engineers tend to recommend that folks turn to CoreAudio for full support. Also, I really would like to support Unix, assuming that there are as many Unix folks using FLAC as t...

FLAC codec in OS X Leopard
...version 10.5 of OS X) a few weeks ago. Although I was a bit disappointed, but not surprised, to see that FLAC support isn't built natively into the OS, I was very happy to notice recently that Apple ships source code for a FLAC encoder and decoder codec component in /Developer/Examples/CoreAudio/AudioCodecs/ FLAC.xcodeproj. All that is necessary to build the codec is to download the latest FLAC source code, copy it into the project tree, #define VERSION appropriately, and build it. Once installed this allows Core Audio aware applications to encode and decode FLAC in a CAF containe...

Ices on OS X
So this is just an update of what I've been doing lately. I don't post to this list much but I'm on IRC a lot. So hi everyone... I had this idea that a live input module for ices on OS X would be a good thing. I started to look into the CoreAudio API but then I discovered that JACK can theoretically run on OS X. JACK is cool and Karl's most recent source has an input module for it. After lots of pulling teeth, I got JACK compiled on OS X, I then got Ices-58-kh compiled against that version of JACK. So this is all good... But the pe...

Submitting patches for MacOS X
I'm going to want to submit patches for MacOS X in the near future (hopefully tonight or tomorrow night), but I don't see what flags to cvs diff you guys like to receive. Included in these patches will be a MacOS X module for libao which uses the CoreAudio framework along with some other minor stuff. -tim --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'vorbis-dev-request@xiph.org' containing only the word 'unsubscribe' in th...

Buffer size/rate woes
Hi All, I am trying to get speex working on the Mac and am running into issues. I got the examples working, but am now trying to make speex, which expects 8000 Hz and 160 samples per buffer (320 bytes per buffer), work with the Mac's built-in audio recording, which uses either 11025, 22050, or 44100 Hz and 1024 samples per buffer (2048 bytes per buffer). I just need to know if
