Savin Copier Print Processor
I have FreeBSD 5.3 running on an Sun Ultra 10. I installed Samba 3.03, from patching SWAT now says version 3.07. I am having an issue printing from Windows through Samba to Savin copiers (model 9935DPE and 9945DPE) when downloading the Windows drivers directly from the [print$] share. When I print a test page, the orientation of the lettering is correct but the letters are gibberish. The Windows logo in the corner looks correct. If I do not download the drivers from the server,...

Sharp AR-M550N and SAMBA
Recently, we added a Sharp AR-M550N copier to our network. This device
functions as an MFC (scanner/printer/copier).
When I attempt to install the drivers to the SAMBA server, I receive an
error message which displays briefly and then I receive the following
error message when trying to access the properties of the printer.
Function address 0x3119c9f caused a protection fault. (exception code

Network Browsing
Hello,
We use a Ricoh Aficio 3035 copier which has multiple functions- one of
them is to scan to a folder via SMB/FTP/NFS. We've chosen to scan
documents into PDF documents via SMB to user's shared folders on a
Windows NT server for several years with no issues. About a year ago the
user's folders location was changed to one on Windows 2003 Server also
with no problems. Last week I

Samba 4, CUPS, and one slow printer
I'm running CentOS 6.5, cups-1.4.2-50, and sernet-samba-4.1.4-7. I have five Ricoh copiers configured as printers using RAW queues in CUPS. Samba is configured as an Active Directory domain controller.
I followed the "Samba as a print server" guide in the wiki. The [global] section contains load printers = yes. The [printers] section contains the following:

Kerberos and NTLMv2 authentication
Dear Samba Users,
I set a samba share (4.8.1) on a linux (centos 7) as server member ;
authentication is done against a AD win 2012 R2 server through winbind.
I thought authentication was using kerberos, but I checked log and found :

copying over an existing file when not owner
SuSE 8.2/Samba 3.0.4-SerNet-SuSE
One expects file's owner and date to be preserved
when copying a file to an SMB share. But if a file
with the same name is already there there are two
different ways as to who will ultimately own the
new file and what date will be stamped depending
upon whether the file belongs to the copier or to
someone else.
If I try to copy a file to a samba share which

All in one good for CentOS
I've asked a similar question before, but this is slightly different -
is there a reasonably good, cheap all-in-one scanner-copier-printer-fax
device that works well with Linux, CentOS in particular?
(Last time I asked about a scanner only, although it was in the context
of a Canon MP160, which I never did get to work and wound up taking
back.)
Thanks.

Problem with printer driver sharing Win2k klients.
Hi...
I got this new server at work that I have to get 100% up and running by
tomorrow.
It's running Samba 2.2.1a on SuSE 7.3 Pro
It's supposed to be VPN - File and Printer Server
The printers are:
One OCE 700C / CS90 color copier and One OCE 3165
And there is only one problem left.
I can install the printer drivers for Win9x & NT on the samba server.
But I can't figure out how to

mount cifs
Hi,
I updated our servers to 4.2.11, and I have a problem, but I'm not sure
if the problem is related to the update.
I am trying to use mount.cifs:
> mount -t cifs -o username=username,password=super_secret,domain=WRKGRP //ip.of.our.samba/share /mnt
> mount error(112): Host is down
> Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs)
Host is up, i can use smbclient to

Samba spoolfile name
L.S.
Situation:
I am running Samba 2.2.7a as my DPC in a small business network with win98/ME clients.
A big Fiery printer/scanner/copier device is also part of this network. It has its own printserver.
Since Win98/ME can not print to an LPD queue directly, I have setup Samba to spool the printjobs send by the clients to the Fiery server.
All is working well, but there is a small problem.

Many "Error: Corrupted index cache file /XXX/dovecot.index.cache: invalid record size"
Hi all,
I just joigned this list, so I'm sorry if this problem has already been
reported.
I'm running Dovecot 2.0.13 on many servers, one for POP/IMAP access,
others for LDA, others for authentification only, etc.
All servers are accessing a shared file system, based on MooseFS
(www.moosefs.org). The FS is mounted using FUSE.
All my Dovecot servers have this configuration :

Document Scanning and Storage
I'd like to start scanning our boxed up documents. I'd say about 30,000
files total.
Mostly to eliminate the boxes of paper we have.
I'd like to scan them, store them, Have some sort of index, and be able to
retrieve them on multiple machines. I think PDF would be the desired format.
I'd like be able to set some permissions as well. (not a deal breaker...)

failing to print 'point-n-print'
...print' .. I also get an
error message when trying to print from an application (ie WORD)
The printer is a TOSHIBA studio 35 - and I am using the vendor
drivers. If I try it using the PPD/ADOBE method - it works fine
If someone would like to test the driver, it can be downloaded from:
http://copiers.toshiba.com/support/drivers/GL-1010v2.shtml
Any suggestions would be appreciated - thanks

User not really in group
I have a Debian Etch AMD64 server running Samba 3.0.24. It is joined
to an active directory domain. Most everything works quite well.
I had set up a user for a scanner but forgot to add it to a group so
that it could access the target folder, so the scans failed. I then
added the account to the group, but for some reason it is still denied
access to the directory.
I su'ed to the user, and

Printer prints, but reports opening
We have a samba 2.2.3a-12.3 for Debian running, and something odd in
printing.
We use CUPs as linux print server. When we print from a w2k station,
prints come out the printer, but the printer window reports a cycle of
messages:
- initializing printer
- opening printer
- failed to open, retrying
what can be the cause?

ALLOCATE in a FORTRAN subroutine
> You can call (some) R functionality from C
When I read about 'R api' I thought that we could call all the functionality of R. I think that in the windows world, this is called OLE automation. From a pure programmer point of view, it is very convenient and my customer is creating a team of programmers. But, if only 'some' functionalities can be called, it's not so useful.
