returning the largest element in an array/matrix?
Hi all,
I want to use "which.max" to identify the maximum in a 2D array/matrix and I
want "argmin" and return the row and column indices.
But "which.max" only works for vector...
Is there any convinient way to solve this problem?
Thanks a lot!

I would like to use the Asterisk PBX as part of a phone shop system instead
of the usual PBX plus PC. How can I do the the billing in a way that is
convinient to the phone shop attendant?

How to add two different axis to one plot?
...put another axis, with increments
from right side to the left side and showing a different unit. How do I do
that?
By the way, is there a "hold" command for plotting?
If I first plot a picture, how to add another "plot" command onto it without
erasing it?
In matlab, it can be convinient done by "hold on" and "hold off"... and can
I do it in R?
Thanks a lot,
Micheal

...idea of how good your

Ogg streams might also have video at some point (I hope to start testing
this soon). I'm not sure how best to store diveres info like this. I
assume fps, khz, channels at the very least. I'm still trying to think
of a really convinient way to store arbitrary things, so that the data
is extensible, instead of having to put out a new version of icecast
every time we want to add a variable.
Any ideas?
jack.

Installing Centos5 into Solaris-Xen DomU
I have posted in http://vireso.blogspot.com my notes about installing
Centos5 (from DVD image) into DomU on OpenSolaris Xen
(xen-nv66-2007-06-24).
Using OpenSolaris for Dom0 gives such advantage as zfs zvols for "phy"
devices in DomUs, so zfs snapshot & zfs send gives you incredible fast
and convenient full/incremental backup/restore of full DomUs.

parttioning a matrix corresponding to different levels of y
Sir,
I have a problem regarding partitioning a matrix.I state my problem as
follows:
I have a y vector of length say 1000.Variable y has 4 levels say
0,1,2.Corresponding to each y(response), I have a x-vector(explanatory) as a
row of X matrix. Now, I want to partition the X matrix into 3 submatrices say
x1,x2,x3 corresponding to each level of y.Is there any function to do this
in R or how can I

use of file.show() under linux session....
...indow, it is displayed as any
normal text file, so I don't understand.
Well, it's trivial, but it could help me if I could see the file while
working in another window with the R session... of course, I could use
another soft (Gedit, or open a new console manually...) : well, I find
it more convinient without many different programs running in the
session.
Thanks in advance for help.

It is doable from dhcpd.conf, however when adding a node, one must do:
* add uuid entry to dhcpd.conf
* restart dhcp
It is not always desirable (or convinient) when managing multiple nodes. Also, it requires
dhcp server that supports this.
Ideally, for automatic node discovery and following management of discovered node, one would
like to do:
* have simple dhcpd.conf with default boot image of pxelinux.0
* new node boots with pxe, pxelinux.0 is booted...

R command line: need intelligent command history recall?
...rrent command line... it is too slow.
In Matlab, I just need to enter "ab", then press "->", if there is no other
"ab******" between the "abline" and my current command line, then the
console will intelligently recall "abline" back to me... Very convinient.
Does this feature exist in R?
Any other good Integrated Developement Environment for R?
Perhaps R users are mathematicians and statisticians; but as a software

environment is really efficient and time-saving. It and Borland C++...

about LLVM_INSTALL_PREFIX the purpose is to make it really relocatable,
eg, when installed under /lib/llvm I just later need to move the
installation tree to /lusr/local/lib/llvm without re-run cmake and the
time-boring build/install process, and this is especially convinient on
Windows. Use CMAKE_CURRENT_LIST_DIR while not the absolute predefined
LLVM_INSTALL_PREFIX is just to give the freedom to this, if just installed and
not moved, this will work identical to the value original absolute
LLVM_INSTALL_PREFIX points.
CMAKE_MODULE_PATH should be corrected for installed...

If you want to stream at any bandwidth other than what the files were
recorded at, you'll need to re-encode using lame (or another codec). If you
rip the files at the same bandwidth you'll be streaming at, you won't need
it.

Data-mining using R
...ene, and the columns are details about its level
of expression, reliability of the measurament, coordinates and so on.
The main objetive here is identify some genes (rows) according to some
criteria. In order to do that, what I want to be able to do, is selectively
filter the rows, graph some convinient variables, do some further filtering
and so on.
Let me take a more concrete example to make myself clear. Let's say
that I load a given dataset on a dataframe, namely expr1. This dataframe would
have the fields expr1$name, expr1$expression, expr1$reliablity, expr1$x,
expr1$y and so on, co...

Icecast or Apache streaming for static files?
Hi,
A simple question, that I would appreciate some opinions on:
What are the advantages for using Icecast to stream static MP3 files
rather than just letting Apache handle the streaming?
Many thanks,

Strange problems with my shares
Hello guys,
I have plenty of problems with my shares.
First my env: Samba 4.2.1 on ubuntu 14.04, 2 DC and 1 Domain member (for
the share),Bind 9.9 DLZ for the DNS and winbindd.
When i follow the wiki page about settings home directory (
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/User_home_drives) the file system
permissions are very strange:
