nmbd keeping old data
...do get the new contents. For users running Windows 7, they may well get the old contents as Windows 7 will cache recently accessed files and not re-transfer them if the date has not changed. I have tried touching the containing directory and touching the file to update the dates again, but the PCs contunue to see the old dates. If I delete the file and then copy it back in again then the PCs finally see the new file correctly. Am I correct in thinking that nmbd is sometimes caching old information and refusing to update it's view of things? Are there any settings that affect how nmbd may cache d...

Specify or rename 'Administrator' name (cn) for DC ?
Hi all. Is it possible to change DC administrator name from 'Administrator' to something else, for example, to 'DomaAdministr' ? If it is, is it possible via command-line or via LDAP browsers only ? If it do via LDAP browser (of course cn will be changed) , will Samba4 contunue to work correctly ? Also, I offer to add new switch to Samba4 DC provision such as 'adminname' , that is: Set DC Administrator name during provision, for example: ./samba-tool domain provision --host-name=Main --realm=dom.net --domain=Dom --host-ip=192.168.0.1 --adminname="MainDomAdm...

Network is busy
Ok, I've gone through the list archives, and there's a bunch of questions, but no answers. I'm referring to the Error: Network is busy when logging in from both Win95 (a and b versions) and Win98. It seems to never give this message unless the Windoze machine has been rebooted forcefully - it seems as if the samba server hasn't realized that the client has left, and is locking

Network is STILL busy...
.../05/18 18:21:31, 2] smbd/server.c:exit_server(406) Closing connections I have decided to post this message again in hopes that someone might have a clue as to what is going on. Since the original post, we have also tried Samba 2.0.4 on the production machine with the same result. Samba 2.0.3 contunues to run on the identically configured test system with no problems at all. <From last post...> I have done a great deal of reading regarding the network is busy error, but haven't come up with an answer for one particular problem. Network is busy...
I have done a great deal of reading regarding the network is busy error, but haven't come up with an answer for one particular problem. Here is the situation. Two identical DGUX machines are sitting on a network. Both machines are running Samba 1.9.10 with no problems other than performance. Upon several recommendations about improving performance, they decided to upgrade to 2.0.3.
