Contradictory results between different heteroskedasticity tests
Hi all, I'm getting contradictory results from bptest and ncvTest on a model calculated by GLS as: olslm = lm(log(rr)~log(aloi)*reg*inv, data) varlm = lm(I(residuals(olslm)^2)~log(aloi)*reg*inv, data) glslm = lm(log(rr)~log(aloi)*reg*inv, data, weights=1/fitted(varlm)) Testing both olslm and glslm with both ncvTest and bptest giv...

contradictory netfilter default policy
I'm curious why CentOS contradicts its own (or, actually RH's) netfilter default policy. On http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Network/IPTables , at the end of section 1, it's stated that (generally) the default policy for INPUT is to DROP. So, why is it set to ACCEPT? Btw, Fedora is also this way.

Bug#324200: rsync: man page contradictory on use of ssh

R: lmer specification for random effects: contradictory reults
...e different Z conditions. Benedetta -----Messaggio originale----- Da: ONKELINX, Thierry [mailto:Thierry.ONKELINX@inbo.be] Inviato: lunedì 25 novembre 2013 14:48 A: Benedetta Cesqui; r-help@r-project.org Cc: r-sig-mixed-models@r-project.org Oggetto: RE: [R] lmer specification for random effects: contradictory reults Dear Benedetta, I think you might want (1+T+Z|subject) as random effects rather than (1+T|subject) + (1 + Z|subject). The latter has two random intercepts per subject: a recipe for disaster. Follow-up posts should only go to the mixed models mailing list which I''m cc''in...

Copying a live system
I want to backup my current CentOS-7.2 system to another drive. Is it safe to copy the system while it is running? Eg by mount /dev/sdb5 /mnt rsync -HPaxvz /. /mnt/ I've found contradictory advice on the web. -- Timothy Murphy gayleard /at/ eircom.net School of Mathematics, Trinity College, Dublin

lmer specification for random effects: contradictory reults
...ts the random intercept is perfectly collinear with the random slope. Thus, we fit the wrong model. A random intercept only model would have sufficed. Am I correct? If so, should I take mod1 (mod1 <- dT_purs ~ T + Z + (1 + T | subject ) instead of mod2 to fit my data? Why are these results contradictory? Finally is a correlation value of -0.87 a too high or an acceptable value ? Thanks for help me in advance! axis.POSIXct: Datetime data and plotting
...ar issue was discussed in October 2003 under the subject line "datetime data and plotting" (see https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-help/2003-October/039071.html), but I wasn't able to determine whether there is a straightforward solution. The code below produces a graph with apparently contradictory date labels on the top and bottom axes: f <- "%Y/%m/%d" d <- as.POSIXct(strptime(c("2003/1/15","2003/1/16", "2003/1/17","2003/1/18","2003/1/19"),format=f)) plot(d,1:length(d),axes=F);box() axis(2) abline(v=d[3]) axis.POSIXct(1,d,f...

Different goodness of fit tests leads to contradictory conclusions
I am trying to test goodness of fit for my legalistic regression using several options as shown below.  Hosmer-Lemeshow test (whose function I borrowed from a previous post), Hosmer–le Cessie omnibus lack of fit test (also borrowed from a previous post), Pearson chi-square test, and deviance test.  All the tests, except the deviance tests, produced p-values well above 0.05.  Would anyone please

Confusion on call forwarding
I'm confused. What does Asterisk do when it gets a 302 with a new number to forward to? Is there anything I have to do in the dialplan to make this work? I can't find any clear documentation on this issue.

Basic setup for vsftpd ?
...l' / pass 'install') The machine I'm installing it on has a static IP ok (192.168.1.252/255.255.255.0). I tried to fiddle with the various configuration options in vsftpd.conf, but to no avail. Googled quite some, but the information I found doesn't seem reliable, more like contradictory. One detail: this isn't a publicly accessible machine, e. g. it's not out there on the wild internet, only on the LAN, so there's no special security considerations. Any suggestions ? Niki Kovacs

New user is confused by some configuration issues
I find the documentation very confusing about how to install native DLLs, which native DLLs to install and where to put them. Some of the advice is contradictory. I have wine 0.9.17 on Ubuntu 6.06 I see in the system32 a number of DLLs are installed. Are these the only copy of the builtin DLLs that wine has? Because the documentation says that when installing native DLLs, they should best go into the system and/or system32 directory, in which case some of...

Samba/OpenLDAP reliability issue: backend experience needed
...ers and 800 users. What would you suggest in order to be reliable ? Reliability is more important than speed for us. I used to work with a bdb backend, had problems; the SuSE consultant told us to use ldbm, but it isn't any better. Any advice would be helpful since googleling gives mostly contradictory information about that. Kind regard, Gerd

Working example of ALERT_INFO with Cisco ATAs?
I am wondering if there are any tricks getting the Cisco ATAs to do "distinctive rings" via the ALERT_INFO variable? I have seen some contradictory information in the Wiki, and I tried the example there. I then sniffed the connection between the server and the ATA and didn't see the header sent like it is "supposed" to be. If someone out there has a handle on this and would be willing to help, I'd sure appreciate it. I&...

Solaris build fix breaks Solaris
16396:055d98aa2dd0 almost works but not quite. LDFLAGS_DIRECT means we end up with: gld -melf_i386 -nostdlib -N -Ttext 0x100000 -o hvmloader.tmp hvmloader.o mp_tables.o util.o smbios.o 32bitbios_support.o acpi/acpi.a Specifying a linker script and asking for -nostdlib is obviously contradictory. Removing $(LDFLAGS_DIRECT) fixes the problem. regards john _______________________________________________ Xen-devel mailing list Xen-devel@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-devel
