Do you know if you can map a large minimum spanning tree in R?
...as they actually > would be on the map. >Do you know if this is possible? You can certainly "map" in R. Depending on the coordinate system of your data . . . but, e.g. - if it's lat/lon - perhaps the easiest way is to install the "maps" package and you can add the continental outlines to an existing plot: ## display nodes code here . . . library(maps) map('world',add=T,xlim=c(109,157),ylim=c(-47,-7)) There are plenty of other options, if you have your own map data (or want to use another source). Feel free to provide more detail about your current plotting...

Free "Agile Web Development with Rails" Text
...a RoR n00b that has been lurking for a week or so. About two weeks ago I bought the text version of Agile Web Development with Rails. Today, I bought the .pdf version because I run a Sony Notebook and find a .pdf more user friendly. Therefore I have the text to give away for free. If anyone in the continental US would like the copy please let me know and I''ll mail it out. Adler -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...

Rd and guillemots
First of all, thanks to those who've set up R to work so smoothly with Miktex-- even a total Latex bunny like me got it to work instantly, so that for the first time I'm able to run my Rd files through the Latex side of RCMD CHECK. Now the question/buglet. One of my Rd files contains the following: \code{mlazy( <<objname1>>, <<objname2>>, <<etc>>)}

masking a regular lat/lon grid to extract map boundaries
Dear R-helpers, I have lat/lon coordinates of regularly spaced grid points, about 4Km apart, covering the entire US continental region. I would like to mask this rectangular grid in order to extract all and only the grid points within a specific region. Today I want to extract Montana, say, from this grid, and I am hoping to somehow use the returned value of the function map("state",region="montana"). I...

...4.so.2, libacl.so.1 I've tried the suggestion of running rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest, which completes but does not fix the files. Do you know if you can map a large minmum spanning tree in R?
Do you know if you can map in R? I have my minimum spanning tree, but as there are 1371 nodes (all over Australia) I'd like to be able to "graph" them as they actually would be on the map. Do you know if this is possible?

Color Alaska in USA map
...Name<-state[1:3,1] StateName mapplot(StateName~state[1:3,3],data=state,breaks=breaks, map=map("world", c("USA", "Hawaii"), fill=TRUE) ,scales=list(draw=FALSE), colramp = colorRampPalette(c("white", "black")),xlab=NULL) After I run this code, the continental USA could be colored, but alaska is not colored. I have tried to write alaska as "Alaska" and "USA:alaska". However, it does not work. Do you have any suggestion? Thanks! Sun

does Jitter calculation in chan_iax2.c work???
Hi, We are trying to get the jitter of a channel for iax channels. iax2 show netstats The above command always shows zero value for jitter. (Actually, only rtt and kpkts are non-zero). The behaviour is the same even for cross-continental calls. Is this a bug in the implementation or a configuration problem?. Thanks, Vijay & Ashish PS:We have enabled jitterbuffer at both ends. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... System Time Source
...racks block the GPS signal quite well. This is why data centers with such clocks generally have to run an antenna to the outside for their clock. That makes it far more expensive than just connecting to an upstream NTP server. No, GPS is lower signal strength than WWVB, at least for most of the continental US (although WWVB signal strength varies significantly based on the time of day, because it is a low frequency signal). -- Chris Adams <linux at cmadams.net>

Basic Question about use of R
...user of R. My background includes the use of (Turbo) Pascal for scientific analysis of underwater acoustics problems (e.g. sound ray tracing and array gain in directional noise fields.) I have become interested in the following type of problem: (1) select , say, 1000 random locations within the continental United States; (2) characterize (statistically) the probabilities of: (a) distance to the nearest paved road; (b) elevation above sea level; (c) (?) ownership (public or private); etc. Would R be useful , perhaps in combination with Google Earth, to carry out this kind of study? Thank...

1800 Provider
Hi list, I'm interested in receiving incoming call to my Asterisk PBX thru an 1800 number. Anybody knows a provider with best minute rate? I heard that that Nufone can provide this service for around 3cents/min for calls made within 48 continental states. Any provider that can give better rate, even with additional limitation such as much few states that a call can originate? How do the phone cards company with 2cents/minute rate do it by giving out 1800 access number? TIA! Jim -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment wa...

Virtual PBX (*)
Hi, I have received some replies for my previous mail (* configuration), asking for my goals in configuring Asterisk. So here they are: We are planning to host an Inter continental virtual PBX service that will enable our users to register for an account which give them a toll-free # or a DID. Once registered using a web based interface, that user can add as manay extensions he/she wants and people can be conencted from remote locations in Japan, India using Asterisk and...

We are currently experimenting with a setup similar to this one, but with geographically distributed servers (trans-continental) (bandwidth limited and high cost).
