Fedora Server - as an alternative ?
hi guys
I wonder if any Centosian here have done something different than only
contemplated using Fedora Server, actually worked on it in
test/production envs.
If here are some folks who have done it I want to ask if you deem it to
be a viable option to put it on at least portion of servers stack.
Anybody?
Many thanks, L.

Maturity of dbox
Hi,
I am contemplating migrating from maildir to dbox. However, I wonder
about the maturity of the dbox code, as it appears to not be widely
used. Does anybody have some success stories?
My primary driver is to have non-changing file names, and thus smaller
backup deltas. Are there other advantages that I should pursue?
I read in the wiki that the migration is straightforward, but I did not

Dovecot git mirror
I've been working on Evolution's 'imapx' back end to support QRESYNC,
and was going to look at NOTIFY next. Then I realised I may have to look
at implementing it on the server side first.
Before I can even contemplate that, though, I had to mirror it into git.
I've always resisted the one-version-control-system-per-child craze, and
these days if I'm even contemplating a

ThinClients: Java Appletes and JavaScript
Has there been any Blogs or other discussions about Java Applets vs
JavaScript? If appears (and I stress "appears") that JavaScript is
getting the attention due to Googles use of AJAX and Java Applets do not
have the same popularity.
The reason I ask is that I have contemplated trying my hand at some
Applets for my client as well as using some inline Java in Web pages.

users of dbox format
I am interested in finding out your experiences with using the dbox
format (especially mdbox) if you use this format.
I am contemplating changing my maildir setup to mdbox but I still need
to make a case for it
against maildir which has become a de-facto standard and provides sort
of a secure basis in case of
software changes.
Your input will be appreciated.

Using Tags in Applications
I''ve been contemplating the utilization of "tags" functionality for
categorizing records in my application. For example, a record can have
any tag associated with them: volunteer, donor, phone_caller, etc.
(Much like delicious)
Has anyone already laid out a good architecture for implementing this
on the DB, or other medium? I''m sure I can custom build something, but

variable += 1
or
++variable

OpenSSH Certificate Extensions
Hello:
I am working to implement certificate-based authentication for some
internal applications. It would be very helpful to be able to pass
information server-side by specifying some custom options via the
Extensions of the signed certificate, allowing the authenticity of the
options to be verified readily. However, I have not been able to find too
much for specifying behaviors, etc.

Asterisk and Fedora
Hello List,
I have been beating my head against the wall for a little while now
trying to get my TDM400 card to work with Fedora Core 4. Not a great
deal of success even after successful builds of zaptel and the other
required componentry. The machine doesn't even recognize the card.
Using Debian it was recognised but as a newbie to Asterisk most of
the documentation I can find and

KVM as a desktop
I am nearing the end of a project that moved our disparate services
and hosts onto kvm virtualized servers. What I am now contemplating
is setting up my desktop as a virtual host and using one of the guests
as my primary workstation.
However, I am not sure how this would work in practice. I am
accustomed to working with virtual instances via ssh (a terminal
window) and with my desktop system in

Google Group?
A number of people have had difficulties subscribing and/or sending
messages to the existing mailing list.
Also I have to spend quite a bit of time moderating spam and the
mailman interface is pretty clunky.
So I was contemplating setting a Google Group up instead. Does anyone
have any objections?

[Asus Eeebox] USB FXO adapter?
Hello
I'm contemplating building an Asterisk voice server out of the compact
Asus EeeBox:
http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=24&l2=165
But they're so compact, they don't have a PCI slot to handle an analog
phone line. I'd like to minimize footpring and cables: Besides
analog/SIP boxes like Linksys (extra cables + transformer), does
someone know of a USB adapter that is

APC Smart-UPS 3000XL: Compatible/Any good?
Hello list.
I'm contemplating buying new batteries and putting an older APC
Smart-UPS 3000XL back into service. Would that work well with NUT? Any
drawbacks to consider?
Thank you,
Tobias

Zoneminder
I have a few dvr's that I am contemplating converting to Zoneminder (don't
know any other app) and would prefer to use CentOS over fedora obviously
but the only rpm I see exists for Fedora.
I don't want the hassle of manually compiling this, as we have our own config
mgmt.
Anyone using this rpm (srpm recompiled) in CentOS or know of a solution
that exists?
Thanks!

How to charge for Asterisk installations and ongoing support?
Hi,
I'm just wondering how other people cost/charge for * boxes they have installed
in small businesses?
Asterisk is such a complex beast and is capable of so much it seems
equally complex to figure out a charging model!?
I'm contemplating installing a pair of servers at a small company with
two separate locations, one main aim is to provide a IAX link between
the two but I'm sure

Upgrade path questions
Hi,
We are currently running Dovecot v1.1.6 on our servers, and are
contemplating an upgrade to 1.2, or 2.0 soon. We are wondering how many
organizations are still running a 1.1 version of Dovecot, and if anyone
has any thoughts on this transition. Have you upgraded from 1.1 to 1.2?
What are your experiences with this? Have you upgraded from 1.1 to 2.0
directly? What are your experiences this

process_rename assumes hard links?
Hi,
My name is Miguel Oliveira and I work at the University of Oslo where we just deployed a new high performance compute cluster. Our current parallel filesystem is FhGFS and we started having complaints about problems with file transfers? We managed to diagnose this to particular ssh clients that do not support the new posix rename extension.
Bottom line our filesystem does not support hard

Ji cuadrado de tendencia lineal
Hola,

Contemplating Move
Hello, all. New to list.
I hope this isn't an FAQ. I looked at the FAQs I could find,
and didn't see it.
I am doing contract work, and was requested to install FC2
on my machine (last October). Since doing that, I have
tentatively concluded that the Fedora Core Project is
more or less beta test, and not really suitable for development
work. Please anyone correct me if I am wrong.
So I
