connecton reset by peer - socket problem
i set up a samba on redhat with a 192.168.x.x ip and and alias of a real
ip. on the lan i have win nt and win 2k with real ip that can access
the samba without difficulty, but when the win 98/me workstations, with
192.168.x.x ip's, try to connect to the samba, it would be either very
slow, or saying that the lan is busy, or cannot connect at all. then,
in the samba, i'll see the log

darkice connection error
...to stream to the icecast server
using both liveice and holyshout. Neither could connect. I also had a
friend (thx vanguardist) attempt to stream remotely to my server. He
received a connection error as well. It would appear to me (in my
AMATEUR opinion) that the icecast server is not accepting connectons.
Any adice?
chris.

Nicecast
So I just setup my Icecast server on my unix box but I am having trouble
with Nicecast in trying to send a stream to it. Nicecast connects to the
server fine when I leave the mountpoint setting blank but when I put
something in there, it fails to login. Regardless, neither alternative
produces a working stream. Although, when I don?t enter a mountpoint and the
broadcast is playing, my icecast

subqueries in sqlQuery function (package RODBC)
Hi R users.
sorry for missing example and if question is to general but I am wondering
if it is possible to execute subqueries in function sqlQuery (package RODBC)
with opened connection with Excel or SQL server 2000. I couldn't find any
example of this.
And if it is possible what should be a correct syntax for this query:
SELECT ct,COUNT(*) as n
FROM (SELECT COUNT(*) AS ct FROM children

Hey guys,
Is there a way to extract the concurrent connectons to a
dovecot servers? Got a fairly busy installation that Id like to
monitor/graph concurrent connections for.

What is the performance penalty for incoming connectons? Have you any
sense of this?
I'm slightly leery of this approach. I've encountered numerous systems
that sought to split out subconfigurations sensibly, such as
/etc/cron.d for cron jobs, /et/sudoers.d for sudo access, and
individual zone files for DNS configurations. Some of them have wor...

...nect imaps.your-domain.com:993
if it is your own real connnections attempts from your customers/employee,
you might have a problem, that requires more info ...
if you do NOT receognized those IP#, don't worry, except that you do need
to add imaps and pop3s into /etc/hosts.allow to allow legit connectons
and all other script kiddies should be dropped. similarly, your firewall
should be configured to tarpit un-authorized new tcp connections to port 993

Samba operates on a single thread model, per client. The client decides
how many connectons to make, and windows always uses just one.
As such, all other operations on that connection *will* block while we
print - particulary if the remote print server blocks.
It may be possible to 'background' the print process (by twiddleing the
print command) but I don't know what implica...

Pause in access of realtime file transfers when printing
Hello,
I'm running Slack 8.1 and Samba 2.2.4. The mp3 I'm playing off of the
server, or anything else realtime for that matter, pauses when a print job
is sent to the box. I'm printing to a small cheap print server that does
lpr. The pause seems to occur when my linux box sends the job to the actual
print server (by the looks of my switch activity) hanging off of my printer,
so the

upgrading from fedora29 to fedora 31
Hi there
I am using libvirt+lxc on fedora
I just upgraded a couple boxes from f29 to f31
i am running into rather puzzling glitches on one of the boxes, and am having a hard time trying to figure what exactly is going wrong
symptom being that on the faulty box, my 3 containers startup correctly, but all of them stop after some random time shortly after (approx. in the 5-10 minutes)

Samba ver 2.2.2 - socket read - WinXP
Jan. 21, 2004
Dear All,
I have enjoyed some success with Samba version 2.2.2. I am using
it to serve Micro$ Access to end users. It works very well on a prior
version of Unix, with older Win2k clients. Now, with my current version,
and Win XP Pro, I have problems. Periodically, they get abruptly kicked out.
I get syslog errors which look like:
kforce-adm-# tail syslog

smbfs: directory listing with duplicate entries
Hello,
smbmount from smbfsx-2.04b-1
kernel 2.2.7
I got a little problem with smbfs. Everything works fine, but sometimes
i get doubled directory entries (not all of them). I turned debug on in smbfs
and it looks that the doubled items come from NT server (4.0 server SP5 (PDC)).
Listing from smbclient is fine.
Here is an example from ls -l on smb share:
-rw-rw---- 1 root samba 848
