setup printing without a Windows PC client, how?
I am setting up Samba as a work-around for situation in a Debian/Mac OS X LAN. I have several Debian boxes and several Macs in a small LAN. A new addition is my daughter's new Mac laptop which came with Leopard installed. Older Macs connected to netatalk on a Debian Etch box, but I can't get Leopard to connect. So I'm trying to get Samba running and serving to Mac clients. The

Question about the --backup option;
The --backup option in GNU mv, and GNU cp extend the behavior of the -b option in a significant way, I believe. "--backup" allows specification of versioned backups, especially numbered backups, e.g. The old version of file, foo, becomes foo.~N~, where N is a decimal number. There is no mention of such a feature, that I can find, in info rsync, or man rsync. Is this feature available in

Political Spam sent through several CentOS mailing lists
The CentOS team likes to offer an apology for the political spam mails which went through our mail servers earlier today. Due to the nature of mailing list software for public discussion groups, there aren't that many security measures which can be taken to check which mails are supposed to get through and which mails aren't. Total safety can only be had by a moderation of all lists -

Hello Tim and others, Thanks for your help explaining this process on IRC. I wrote out a first draft in the RFC xml format. I have attached the xml (labeled as xml.txt so it will appear inline) and the rendered txt files. Please let me know where I can make improvements. I will upload this draft to the IETF datatracker and send it out to codec@ after addressing your comments. -------------- next

Hey, one last change maybe - with the 3% padding on top and bottom, we really lose screen estate at the top. How does it look to you without any padding at top/bottom (leaving a 10px white line there)? That's what's live on wiki-m.centos.org at the moment. Or, if all of you want to have some more space above there (and the background pattern) go with 1% padding? 1% padding means that
