[Bug 2494] New: kex_protocol_error should send SSH2_MSG_UNIMPLEMENTED
...This would make it possible
for a client to actually find out that a message it has sent was
unrecognised rather than simply hanging, and perhaps even have a
fallback. This would appear to be a MUST in RFC 4253 section 11.4, if
I'm reading it correctly.
(Discovered while debugging a twisted.conch hang that turned out to be
due to sending SSH2_MSG_KEX_DH_GEX_REQUEST_OLD, but it would have been
easier to spot if I'd got an unimplemented packet back from sshd.)

OpenSSH 7.7p1 interop failure with Twisted Conch 8.0.0-17.9.0
This isn't an OpenSSH bug, but just in case anyone else is ambitious
enough to automatically run interoperability tests against other SSH
implementations, here's a heads-up:
https://twistedmatrix.com/trac/ticket/9422
TL;DR: commit 7c856857607112a3dfe6414696bf4c7ab7fb0cb3 caused there to
be an SSH_MSG_DEBUG message sent where there wasn't one before, which
tripped over an

This might be https://twistedmatrix.com/trac/ticket/9515, which was
fixed in Twisted 19.2.0; Debian 10 has an older version. I forget what
the original symptoms of that bug were, but it seems plausible. Try
applying this workaround patch?

Feature request: allow chrooted directory writable by others
Hello, I am trying to setup a file server using the SFTP protocol with OpenSSH.
I am in trouble because sshd refuses to chroot to a directory that is
writable by users other than the owner. I guess that this is to
prevent someone else from creating a .ssh/authorized_keys file and
impersonate the user. But we have configured an alternative
AuthorizedKeysFile. I also understand that a chroot user

...h OpenSSH itself (oh
god, please, no...)? Should I use some dynamic LD_PRELOAD concoction to
'rewrite' nsswitch.conf only for this sshd instance? Should I give up on
OpenSSH entirely and use an SSH implementation which is less focused on
letting system-users run shell-commands (like twisted.conch, or maybe
others)? All these options are... well, doable, but all seem like a lot of
(fragile) work. I'd appreciate comments and ideas.
Sincerely,

ssh in small devices
Dear Sirs,
This must have been asked before but I don't find and FAQ around
dealing with the issue.
We are building small devices that connects to Internet (www.ipio.nu).
The next generation of this we
want to base on AVR32 and run a small slimmed version of Linux. We
have som program on this device that
we want to connect to servers out on Internet. SSL seems to be "quite
heavy"

sftp Client for Windows XP
Folks,
Excuse my ignorance on the subject but I'm new to OpenSSH and have been
tasked to write a 'sftp' Client for a home-grown application that runs on a
Windows platform.
The answers to my questions is probably on the List Archives but I'm not
able to find it even after a few search attempts.
So here goes...
1. Is it possible to even write a custom 'sftp' client for

What's the problem on OS X? We test on it regularly (El Capitan and
High Sierra) and the only problem I'm aware of is that the native
