Which Linux distribution?
...FC4 and have never been able to get CAPI (with Fritz card, fcpci) to work properly. Apart from that Asterisk works fine in switching internal calls. But it's useless if we can't make outgoing calls on our ISDN line. We are considering abandoning FC4 for Debian or SuSe. What is the general concensus on the best Linux to run Asterisk with CAPI? /Why Tea ____________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo! Asterisk2Billing
I'm sure this has been asked a million times. Therefore, I must ask again. Generally speaking, what do you guys think of it. It looks pretty good, but for my uses, I'm not sure that a calling card method is the *best* way to go. But, either way, what is the general concensus? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Which ruby postgresql driver is recommended in rails?
There are 3 ruby postgresql drivers, which is recommended for use in rails? * postgres * ruby-postgres * postgres-pr (pure ruby, too slow?) I checked these postgresql-related tickets in rails and there doesn''t seem to be any concensus. It it seems ticket #4461 (applied in latest edge) tries to make them work equally well--but it would be great if the rails team recommended one. http://dev.rubyonrails.org/query?status=new&status=assigned&status=reopened&keywords=%7Epostgres&order=id&desc=1 -- Posted via...

Setting CallerID with ITSPs
Is there some concensus on where to set callerid when making outgoing calls via an ITSP over IAX? Is this best accomplished in IAX.CONF or EXTENSIONS.CONF? Also, tech support at one ITSP told me that the SetCIDName command doesn't do anything. Is this something that might be unique to their server? Or a general stat...

Work on OggPCM is continuing, the team working on OggPCM2 is free to submit their own draft but some are not welcome to continue work on OggPCM due to their recent social conduct. I'm

I am yet to commence experimentation with this technique, but would appreciate some input from anyone who has performed this before, or a similar kind of operation. Is the concensus that this will work, or are there some issues that perhaps I have missed. Cheers, Mark

Where in the filesystem to place the rails application root?
...ions, along with supporting rationale, from those of you that have deployed a rails appliction for general enterprise use. I am thinking along the lines of using "/opt/ruby/rails/<appname>" or some variation on this but I thought that I would ask first and see if there exists a concensus on where these things should be placed. The environments that I need to consider are these: Prototype and Initial release: Rails Application + Apache 2 + PostgreSQL 8.1 all on one machine. Possible future deployment: Rails Application + Apache 2 + mod_fcgid on one or more machines, PostgreSQ...

Naming Convention for Controllers?
Hello! I just read DHH''s presentation pdf. In his examples, he wrote PeopleController instead of PersonController. I''ve been using singular words in controller''s name. Which is more common? Thanks. Sam -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Commanding the UPS on and off
Now tackling sending the UPS commands to have it turn off and back on (with some delay), I'm just putting this out there to make sure I'm on the right track. I want to design this to be as close as possible to "industry standard", or at least concensus. Looking through the other HU_TYPE_CMDs out there, it seems that most UPSs use "UPS.PowerSummary.DelayBeforeShutdown" for load.off.delay, and "UPS.PowerSummary.DelayBeforeStartup" for load.on.delay. Belkin appears to use custom codes (reserved for vendors), which I know I coul...

yeah that's what came up before when I asked the list about this a couple months ago. The concensus was that in the case of a lightning strike or what have you the 24 awg copper would immediately fry and would not transmit too much of the current sustained. of course my neat little trick here would be fried all to hell, but... -----Original Message----- From: James Harper [mailto:james.harper@be...

Too early to switch aspect scaling on?
Hello all. I've implemented aspect scaling in xine, but have it turned off by default, because it appears it isn't absolutely clear if the fields in theora should mean pixel or frame aspect yet. In a recent IRC discussion, it appears most felt that pixel aspect should be it. Would it be acceptable to turn this on in xine, or should I wait until you make some official decision about it?

OpenBSD again
Hello, I have been looking through the mailing list archive and I have read about ppl writing about porting OpenBSD to Xen but I don''t if they really started porting it. I would like trying to port OpenBSD to Xen, it is a good challenge. If someone is already working on it I would be more than pleasure to collaborate with. Thank you very much for your time. Best wishes, Gabriel

If you want me & Zack to review a "pencil copy", that's fine. When we all discussed this on 5/31/05 the concensus was that SCTelcom would sign necessary LOA's for PrairieStream to get access to co-lo's that are still in SCTelcom name, but all new circuits would be ordered under PrairieStream and billed directly to PrairieStream. * * P.S.* * Sorry I couldn't make the 10 am call this morning as we...

In any case, I'd like to be able to deny all port forwardings except to "localhost" (maybe even change it so that you can specify a host or list of hosts to which ports can be forwarded to). Please let me know what the concensus is. I realize that this may not be a high-demand type option, ie not many people would be in a configuration where the feature would be useful, and bloating software to incorporate every imaginable function isn't desirable, but I think it could be useful enough to at least consider inserting i...

centos 3.3 to 4.x?
Greetings, A friend of mine is running 3.3 He asked what I thought about going to 4.4 I imagine it is best to backup and fresh install and migrate old configs and data What is the wisdom on the list I remember going from beta 3 to 3 a long time ago. Anyone ever upgrade from 3.x to 4.x without problem and how so? I didn't see a lot on the www other than some apt-get info Thanks in
