Recompiling kernel
Recompiling kernel
Hi
I am using CentOS 4 and trying to recompile kernel for my AMD Thunderbird 1.4 CPU.
I used a manual for fedora 3,but I can not make it.
After doing
#installkernel 2.6-new arch/i386/boot/bzlmage System.map
My comuter says "arch/i386/boot/bzlmage no such a file or directory"
Could you possibly help me where the appropriate directory is please?
Thank you for your help in advance.
Cheers,
Joe

windows desktop redirection -> samba has problems
...we are trying to make a change in all users windows profiles. we
are trying to switch from roaming to local. thats easy engouh, but we also
want to redirect the windows desktop and my docs folder to our network
file server (samba) so that the desktop and my documents will, in effect,
roam to other comuters.
heres our problem:
a user, on a windows platform, creates a document in word, or any other
windows app, and saves it to the desktop (i.e., the redirected desktop,
which is actually the home directory of that user on the network filesever
running samba). the file is saved and you can see it on...

2: lme4 ---> GLMM
...rm=~var.b1+...+var.bn | my.Subject , ... )
but each time i recieve
Error in switch(mode(x), "NULL" = structure(NULL, class = "formula"), :
invalid formula
so i don't know, how it can go.
the reason for trying to use the lme4 is its sparse-matrix orientation
and so comutationally more efficient.
thank you for hint in advance

Need to start from somewhere
...diapers. We are traying to start "Asterisk implementation project" and make it available to small people (in small companies, hotels, homes etc). The reason is that here we have "exclusive distributors" of PBX equipment (Panasonic, Ericsson,Cisco,3com etc.) in pocket and cicuite comutation, and for them sky is the limit when the price of equipment is in question , they have money for orders and sell equipment at much, much higher price if you compare it with EU prices or USA prices. And people like we have needs and do not have that much money, so we are traing to make alternati...

Vorbis on Empeg
The esteemed Emmett seems to have given an integer decoder license to Empeg
free of charge.
Soon, you'll be able to play Ogg Vorbis in your car. Spectacular.
I'm headed to Vorbis.com to donate some cash. I'd like to encourage anyone
else who feels the same to do so.

over-allocation of memory
This is probably a really stupid question, but what happens if you have
more memory allocated to domU''s than your physical RAM? Will that cause
dom0 to crash? DomU''s to crash? Or just slow performance due to swap use
on dom0?
I ask this because we''ve got high availability clusters running domU''s,
and I want to know how much memory is safe to allocate to

Precision of values > 53 bits
Hi,
I am working with large numbers and identified that R looses precision
for such high numbers.
The precision is lost exactly when the number is equal or larger than 53
bits. See the following output which shows that the numbers below 53 bit
have proper precision:
> 2^53
[1] 9007199254740992
> 2^53-1
[1] 9007199254740991
> 2^53-2
[1] 9007199254740990
Now, see the numbers above 53

want to call R from aplatform written i strict ANSI C
...al solution to the problem.
3. the system returns to step 1 until convergence.
Since gha works both sequentially and in parallel, I can boost the
search process in difficult problems using the parallel programming
facilities of gha (tested on the parallel supercomputers of the Centre
of Scientific Comuting in Helsinki).
I am grateful for any help on this matter.

fitting distributions with R
Dear all
I've got the dataset
data:2743;4678;21427;6194;10286;1505;12811;2161;6853;2625;14542;694;11491;

I know from other testing that it should be possible to fit the data with the
exponentialdistribution. I tried to get parameterestimates for the
exponentialdistribution with R, but as the values
of the parameter
