lda and home directory
Hello,
I am using qmail and lda configured such that lda should not have to do
a lookup for delivery. I set my defaultdelivery like so:
|HOME=/home/mail/$USER /var/qmail/bin/preline
-f /usr/local/libexec/dovecot/dovecot-lda
Given that the email address being delivered to is
bob.miller at computerisms.com, I expect $USER to be equal to bob.miller
and $HOME to expand to /home/mail/bob.miller/.

Basic question for user/pass authentication
Dear, I have Debian + Samba and I've created a smb.conf in order to
authenticate users I've created with "useradd -s /bin/false" and after
that added to samba with "smbpasswd -a user".
I've created the share in /var/share with rwxrwxrwx.
I edited some lines from smb.conf in GLOBAL and SHARE sections.
I use:
security = user
but when from the Windows machine I

tracking user activity - Active Directory
Hello,
Some mischief happened and I have been asked if I can find out who was
logged into their computers within a specific off-hours time frame. My
logs for that time frame happened to be running at debug level 3, so I
have been looking through them and trying to figure out how to recognize
a workstation login. I find lines beginning with
auth_check_password_send that seem like reasonably good

scp port on remote hosts
Hello,
I would like to specify ports on both hosts to copy files between two
remote computeres. Is there any way to do this with scp? The -P flag
seems to apply to the port on the second host only.

outlook 2013
I am trying really hard to wrap my head around why people insist on
using this program...
Where I have outlook 2013 users, I have had nothing but problems getting
their mail to work with imap. my solution has been to set them up with
pop, which works just like it always has. Or move them to a different
program.
recently, I have a customer who requires multiple machines, all using

Telemarketer GSM?
does anyone have a recorder GSM file that emulates the Telco's "if you are a telemarketer please hangup now" recording? I don't see one in the sounds dir. the ZapATEller works great for computerized callers but if a human hears this message asking them to go away they have to. Isn't that right?

SAS Controllers
Hi All, first time post so please excuse any blunders
We are specifying two servers using supermicro X7DBE+ MB and want to add on a SAS controller
for Raid 10. We want to use the CentOS 4.4 X86_64 distro.
We are currently considering an Intel CC SRCSAS144E SAS Raid Controller for the servers
using 4 Fujitsu 147 GB SAS HDD, and a Adaptec SASC RAID 4805 8-port for the server using 6

Winbind cached account locked out
Hi there,
we have a few SuSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 11 SP1 machines with Samba
3.4.3 joined to Windows Server 2003 domain. The domain has some strict
password policies, like limited password tries before account is locked
for a few minutes.
It works fine when doing online authentication against the domain
controllers.
The problem rises with cached offline logon. Offline logon works,

sieve vacation
Hello,
I set up pigeonhole on a server and am using roundcube's sieverules to
create a set of rules. When using the vacation feature, I can see in
the logs that dovecot is sending the vacation response, but the
recipient never receives it.
What method does dovecot use to send the response? Does it use the
sendmail binary, does it use the mail command, does it connect to some

Dovecot configuration and question about IP trusted
Hello list,
I've just finished to install Dovecot and things seems to work so far. After some little efforts though.
My version is 2.0.20
Question 1:
I'm trying to tighten the security a little bit and added in dovecot.conf
login_trusted_networks = 192.168.1.0/30
Then restarted Dovecot
My client has the IP 192.168.1.20 and it's still able to retrieve emails. I expected it to be

printconf
Does anyone know of a command line tool for printer configuration for CentOS 5.
I have used "printconf-tui --Xexport > printers.xml" to copy my printer setup in CentOS 4.x
(then Ximport to bring it back), but this no longer works in CentOS 5 and I would really
like to retain this functionality.
Can I re-install this tool or will it not work with the new CUPS?
Is there an

Disagreement on where mail goes.
My virtual users have their mail stored in /usr/local/virtual/user at example.com/
dovecot wants to read the mail from /usr/local/virtual/user at example.com/Maildir which is causing problems since all new mail is being written in /usr/local/virtual/user at example.com/new and dovecot is looking in /usr/local/virtual/user at example.com/Maildir/new

freebsd - duplicate folders but one is not accessible
Hello List,
I got called by a colleague last Friday to take a look at samba on an
existing
unix box, which turned out to be freebsd. Somehow I have managed to
make it past a decade of computing without seeing freebsd. while it is
different, it is not significantly so...
This box was built by a gentleman who is not longer with the company
that owns it. As best as I can tell, the windows

dovecot auth against AD on samba4
Hi group
I am currently running a mail server on ubuntu 11.04 with postfix 2.8.5,
dovecot dovecot 2.0.13 and openldap 2.4.23. I have now read about sogo and
I am thinking about installing it because of it's native outlook support
capabilities.
The ZEG appliance wouldn't be an option for me because I use a virtual
server from a provider where I can't install my own vm or even an iso.
