OT: How to make files placed into FTP directory available via http
I'm hoping someone out there can tell me or direct me on where to find
this info on how to make files placed into an ftp directory available
via an url link in an email. I will have a staff member upload the
files to a directory on my ftp server (which is also the web server) and
the files would have to be automatically linked to a web directory,
unless the files can be read directly

Reliability and robustness problems
I am trying to use rsync to backup from a site we will call "office" and
another we will call "home."
Both sites have DSL accounts provided by Arachnet.
At present the files being backed up don't all all to be backed up, but
OTOH we wish to backup lots more files that aren't being backed up now.
First, we create a local backup on our office machine which happens to

Build problems in syslinux 2.00
I'm building on Debian (Woody) though I don't think that's relevant.
Having found no build instructions, no configure script I decided on
'make'
It worked, except the ls command showed some files were not built because
there are old versions in the tarball.
I tried 'make clean all' but still I have old files:
ls -ltr kwdhash.gen version.gen ldlinux.bss ldlinux.sys

rsync and hard links
For those who saw my earlier posts regarding reliability and robustness,
there were several problems;
1. rsync does not retry when there are transmission errors such as
timeouts. I suggest it ought (as wget does): doing so would have enabled
a clean recovery from the network problems we had.
