failes replication ldap, error SPN
Good afternoon. how to overcome the problem, samba creates an SPN in the format computer_name.example.com (computer name in lower case) and Windows registers as CUMPUTER_NAME.example.com (computer name in uppercase). When synchronizing in the direction of Samba, 2 SPN entries appear computer_name.example.com CUMPUTER_NAME.example.com And on the windows side, there is a replication error, si...

Samba 3.5.8 / Windows error and system errors while mapping network drive on some PC's
...dmin upgrade from Samba 3.2.0 to 3.5.8 and we still have the same errors. I have had our AIX admin set the log level from 1 to 3 and add the %m option to the log file setting. I have captured a Samba log file on AIX from my working PC and compared it to a log from an erroring PC: 1. The log.<computer_name> file that works contains a "Got user" entry (below) showing my Samba ID, my actual domain name, and my computer name. The log.<computer_name> file from the computer getting Windows drive mapping errors does not have this type of entry: [ ] libsmb...

NT 4.0 Remote Access Server to a samba PDC
...ppreciated. 3/ Difficulties accessing Windows file or printer shares or seeing other Windows machines on the network. Use the following workarounds: net view /domain:DOMAIN Lists all computers in the DOMAIN domain. Useful, as no machines are normally visible in the Network Neighbourhood. start \\computer_name Opens a window that, after some time, will prompt for login and password for that computer. Simply enter "DOMAIN\your_login" as login to access the machine. Instead of the computer name, you can also type the fully-qualified DNS name or its IP address. When the target computer is pdc1 (t...

Can't add machine account to domain
I am running samba-2.2.7a-7.9.0 on RedHat 9.0. The domain I am trying to join has a different name than the workgroup I am trying to leave. SAMBA + LDAP + add machine script bug?
...ox "The user name could not be found". I turned some tracing on in Samba and plowed through some Samba source and discovered that Samba is attempting to do a "getpwnam" on the newly added computer name. In short, first it does: 1. /var/lib/samba/sbin/smbldap-useradd.pl -w 'computer_name$' 2. Then it does getpwnam("computer_name$") The problem is that the second step kept failing because my ldap.conf did not list "ou=Computers,dc=somedomain,dc=org" as a naming context for nss_base_passwd. I updated /etc/ldap.conf to the following and was able to successful...

valid users and lost password on windows xp
...ord change, I have one machine that, even if mounting the share as a network disk (with username and password specified and the checkbox to store at reboot is checked) each day requires the user to insert the password. In particular the computer always proposes a default username composed by \\computer_name\windows_username. Is there any way to fix this problem? Anyone knows where and how to interact with the stored network-password in a windows system? Thanks, Luca

Is there a listprincs equivalent?
I joined a machine. net ads testjoin says OK. The join exported a keytab, which among others contains MACHINE$@REALM. However, trying k5start I get "Client not found in Kerberos database". Also kinit -t /etc/krb5.keytab MACHINE\$@REALM claims that the client was not found. But then, how did it come into the keytab? Is there a tool to list the principals in AD? Kind regards, -
