[JOB] at yakimaherald.com
Friends-
I have taken a new job and will be moving at the end of March. The
newspaper I currently work for is looking for someone to take my
place. I have really enjoyed working here. It is a great environment
with very nice people to work with. And the best part is you get to
develop in Ruby and Rails, for everything!
The paper is willing to accept applications from people who would

Citrix and QoS
Thanks to all the content from the archives and the HOWTO, I''ve got a QoS
bridge running, based off the Dante script
http://www.compsci.lyon.edu/mcritch/dante/ -->
http://www.compsci.lyon.edu/mcritch/dante/shape.sh.eth0
While we are experiencing a marked improvement in Citrix consistency, I
still feel there is room for improvement. Citrix sends a LOT of small
packets. It is basically a very thin stream. The only thing I can...

Installing ICQ2000b
...the
instructions say for a non-Windows system?)
I've tried it and it says that something isn't installed, and it needs
50comupd.exe from the M$ site. So I get that, installs OK. But ICQ2000b
installer _still_ complains it's not there.
Any ideas?

Users created after certain date are not cached by winbind

Mix font families in a single label?
..., but I
never quite seem to get that right. I suppose that the family needs to
be taken into account to compute the string width, and that doesn't seem
to happen. Is there an easier way that does the calculations automatically?
Any help is much appreciated.

Marc

Rails in High School Curriculum?
Hi folks,
I''m working with a local high school in the Portland, OR area on the
subject of computer science curriculum. We are thinking of introducing
a class in web development and I think Rails would be a perfect vehicle.
I''ve done some searching on the web but haven''t found any suggestion of
HS curriculum for Rails. Any pointers or suggestions?
Thanks,

Best practise guide
Hi,
I''m a new puppet user (thanks !) and I''m just looking at moving my
homegrown manifest structure into something resembling the best practise
guide at :
http://www.reductivelabs.com/trac/puppet/wiki/PuppetBestPractice. It
seems as if the structure here doesn''t map to the default puppet layout
(and thus doesn''t work with the standard puppet config

DTraceTools Update
Is there any work on keeping DTraceTools up to date with the latest snv builds. These scripts are pretty useful and help get a novice dtrace user like me doing useful work quickly.
Specifically the tcp stack tools like tcptop and tcpsnoop don''t work with later OpenSolaris builds.
Thanks,
Gary

Linux virus
ugh :)
Today I became infected with the bliss virus, any info on this would be
appreciated! How do I scan for files infected and is it possible to
remove it? I first noticed the infection when running a program (not as
root) messages flashed on the screen about transversing directories and
such. The program (gimp) had been working fine since I downloaded the
binary for gimp from their main

Pluralized Controller Names?
If I do:
script/generate controller Photo
I get a controller named photo_controller. OTOH, if I do:
script/generate scaffold Photo
I get a controller named photos_controller. (Note that the controller
name is pluralized).
I realize that I''m specifying the controller name explicitly in the
first case, but it seems
odd to me that the scaffold command generates a pluralized
