princomp and eigen
Hi. I was comparing the components from princomp's loadings and the eigen given the same input. I found that the sign of componenets (+/-) are opposite between the two components (from princmop and eigen) but the magnitudes are identical. Why? Thanks! [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Weighted Principle Components analysis
Hello! I am doing Principle Componenets Analysis using "psych" package: mypc<-principal(mydata,5,scores=TRUE) However, I was asked to run a case-weighted PCA - using an individual weight for each case. I could use "corr" from "boot" package to calculate the case-weighed intercorrelation matrix. But if...

I''m "exploring" Ruby and Ruby on Rails. Like what I see so far, but have one question. How do I configure Rails for a previous installation of Apache and MySQL? I already have both products installed working to my needs and would like to keep the environment the same. Previously, I installed Rails using the InstantRails for windows "bundle" but ran into many

RE: Hlp in finding a native Ogg trim, fade & nomalise tool
Hi John A trimer/vcut type application is possible but unfortunately not a fade/normaliser. Not without decoding/encoding. I asked about this a couple of years ago. Unlike MP3, the Ogg Vorbis format doesn't store a global gain setting per frame. I have often downloaded MP3 files from mp3.com and other sources for broadcasting, and with the type of music I need, it is often not normalised

The approach was suggested in the ideas page and it seems perfectly fine. And the possibility of success is very high and the things that could possible go wrong are pretty low....
